So I have found my dress, and yesterday my girls and I went on a bridesmaid dress shopping extravaganza. Some results were surprisingly pleasing and others were very disappointing. I just wanted to share with others what we experienced:
Wedding Embassy in Watertown: So far this is the best store I have visited. I went to two other stores before while looking for my dress and none compared. As soon as I walked in the owner Megan was so nice and gave me her complete attention. She listened to me and the first dress she pulled was MY DRESS. When we came back with my bridesmaids she was so accomodating and nice. I can not reccomend this store enough!
Julie Allen in Newtown: TERRIBLE! I dont know why, because it got greast reviews online but it was a horrible experience. I made an appointment for my bridesmaids and I in advance. When we showed up we were completely ignored. No one even greeted us. When I found a sales woman she was so out of it! She says "oh...the dresses are here. you can look around." We went around and checked out dresses on our own. All this time and NO ONE even approached us to see how we were doing. I had to chase down a sales woman to ask if they had a certain color and even then they did not appear to really know. It was dirty, disorganized, and had terrible customer service. All the sample dresses seemed wrinkled and the dressing rooms were very dirty. I don't know why we did not get the service everyone raves about but we will NOT be going there again.
Davids Bridal in Danbury: Surprisingly good! We went here last minute because our experience at Jullie Allen was so disappointing. We did not have an appointment but they were so accomodating. They greeted us and gave us an associate to assist with locating and trying on dresses. I was pleasantly surprised with their service.
So thats my weekend. We are going to schedule another bridesmaid appointment with Megan at Wedding Embassy after the holidays. She offers "champagne sundays" where you get the entire store to yourselves and complimentary champagne! You just have to put down a $40 deposit that you are refunded as soon as you arrive at your appointment.
