The Riverhouse East Haddam?

Hello!  I am a newly engaged bride who is in the very early stages of planning a wedding after 7 years of dating (finally, yay!).  We are looking at venues that could be used rain or shine, but still have an outdoor theme.  Has anyone checked out the Riverhouse in East Haddam or been to a wedding there?  I am looking at July 2013, but don't know how quickly they book, if it will be too hot in there in July, etc.  Any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

It's a beautiful venue, it was one of the first places I wanted to look because I had gone to a wedding there and loved it.....until I saw pricing. They are expensive, especially for the summer season, but if it fits your budget, highly recommend looking there.

I am having my wedding there this July.  It is beautiful and they are so helpful with the planning.  It is expensive though, as PP stated.  I like that they have several different options in case of bad weather.  I did book about a year and a half out, but if you call and they have a date, they will reserve it for you while you think about it until someone else asks for the same date.  Maybe you might want to do that it that have a July date open for 2013?

Hi! I had my wedding there in March and it was amazing.  Like PPs said, it is EXPENSIVE, which is one of the main reasons I chose March... but it ended up being perfect.  On the day of, they are there for you every minute.  They always make sure you have a drink in your hand (if you want/need it)... and they do a great job of running a smooth show.  All of my vendors were so excited when I said I booked with RH because they're also a dream venue for vendors... very professional and accomodating.  Highly recommend the venue if you have the budget.

Thank you ladies!  We are getting some financial help from my parents, but they are not picking up the whole tab, so pricing is certainly a concern.  I am going to also look at a few state parks in the area as well and myabe see if there is a yacht/country club that is reasonably priced.  When I was little, my dream wedding was always a mansion in Newport, RI.  My how things change when reality sets in!
