Bridal accomodations in Mystic?

Hi Ladies- I'm getting married next September in Mystic, and was wondering if any of you had recommendations.  I'm planning to stay in a suite the night before my wedding with my MOH, and of course the night of the wedding with my husband.  Any suggestions on a nice suite to get ready in? (Good lighting, space for the bridesmaids to putter around, etc).

  • Eeeep!  I just got married in Groton on Saturday, and I cannot recommend highly enough the Mystic Mermaid Inn in Mystic.  It's a beautiful old house with 3 bedrooms upstairs and 1 downstairs.  We stayed in the Blue Room upstairs.  It was very quaint and quiet, and affordable considering the nicest hotel in the area, the Mystic Marriott, was at $220/night, and we paid $205/night with an incredible breakfast in the morning.

My husband and I spent the night together before the wedding (we're not so traditional) and it was amazing getting up together.  My Mom and my brother's girlfriend came and got ready with me, and then my Dad and brother joined us, and we had a photographer, videographer and makeup artist/hairstylist on site, as well.  The room itself has only a queen bed, so you and your MOH would have to cuddle - it's the only issue I can think of - unless you found people to rent out the other rooms.

We also used the downstairs kitchen area and the wrap-around porch for pictures and hanging out space.  People can hang out in the living room downstairs or have your makeup/hair done there.

It was truly a magical place to spend our weekend - the breakfast was exquisite!  And the room came with free Courvoisier and sherry, and they even gave us a bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne and a big bouquet of roses.  We ate lobster frittata, baked pear pastry, challah french toast.  They made omlets for my husband who doesn't like to eat grains.  We had glorious organic fruit with homemade whipped cream, fresh homemade yogurt with amazing homemade cinnamon pecan granola.

  • We had a great time at the Hyatt. They have several bigger rooms that are considered to be in the same category as all of the other ones. After walking past one, I went to the front desk and requested it since all of my bridesmaids were getting ready there. They were very accommodating.

    Good luck!
  • I blocked off rooms at the Mystic Marriott in Groton - They're hideously expensive normally, but they gave me a really nice rate for the wedding guests. You do have to call them way in advance (as in, my wedding is next August and I had to arrange it in July). Hope this helps!

  • DItto the Mystic Marriott BUT - book it way in advance.  I waited too long and they literally bent over backward to help me which was great.  Darcey Eck is their coordinator and really has been amazing.

I'm staying the night before the wedding at the Ocean House in Watch Hill, RI, so that I have my pictures there, and spending the wedding night at the Marriott with the rest of the guests.

I've stayed in the Hilton up there too - the rooms are nice, but the hotel overalll is a little dumpy.
