Need help finding a reception venue in CT

Does anyone have any suggestions for a reception venue in CT? My fiance and I are looking for a venue with a big dance floor and more of a modern feel or (updated)...please help...150-200 we saw Cascade and loved it - are there any other venues similar to Cascade. We have friends getting married there 2 months before us and don't want to step on any toes. We are flexible with anywhere in the state. Would prefer an area with outdoor photo opportunities. I have family out of the country that will be visiting so nearby hotels would be a plus. Any suggestions would be helpful!!

Is there anywhere in the state particular you wanted to be? How big is your guest list?

The Marquee is something different, unique, and new.  http://www.marquee-ct.com/. They have multiple spaces to set up a dance floor and can handle an event form 100-700. Good luck!

Maybe the Riverview or Waterview? Riverview is more affordable (esp. off-season or on a Friday), but they're both gorgeous and have good sized dance floors (at Riverview (not sure about Waterview since we didn't visit it), the dance floor goes along a whole wall of windows--kinda different, but really nice!)

Depending on how many your having, I think that the dance floor at Riverview is kind of small or at least just really oddly shaped as it is long and narrow. Again though, it totally depends how many people you are having.

Ditto on Marquee!!!  We're having our wedding there in October - the food is AMAZING adn the location is VERY convenient (hotel right next door).  Their coordinator (Jessica) has been a doll to work with!

Ditto! about Marquee. We are having our wedding (ceremony, cocktail hour, reception) there April 2012.  We've heard fantastic things about the food, the coordinator Jessica Sanzaro is amazing! She answers emails so quickly. The location is very urban but I think it beautiful. I love the buildings and the history of the G. Fox Building.  Plus like PP said the hotel is right next door and there are tons of options for your rehearsal dinner. Check it out!

I am getting married at the Waterview.  It is a beautiful place.  Great place for outside pictures.

I am also a Marquee bride and would recommend it 100%!!!!! Like you I fell in love with Cascades. It came down between Cascades and the Marquee and in the end we knew we just couldn't get married anywhere else but there!! Absolutely love it's Modern yet retro feel!!!

Highly recommend the Waterview. our reception went off without a hitch and they really went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. The second pic in my siggy was from our first dance. Like the Riverview, the dance floor is good size and next to the windows. It's gorgeous if you have a day wedding or early evening wedding since you will have the lake as your backdrop.

Not exactly modern but Saint Clements Castle in Piortland is gorgeous!!!  Lots of outdoor photo opportunities.  Dance floors are big, especially in the Prince Edward ballroom - only 2 reception rooms. I am lloking to my big day there in a few weeks!Wink

You should check out The Woodwinds in Branfrod, CT. They have huge marble dance floors and beautiful grounds. There is a garden and a waterfall on site. I cant wait till my wedding in December.

I just booked at Farmington Gardens in Farmington. They can accomodate up to 350 people I think. As they are new, they have plenty of availabilities! I am scheduled to get married there and have the reception there in July of 2012. They only have 1 event per day too!
