Southford Falls?

Has anyone been to Southford Falls in Southbury?

I'm considering taking some photos there between our ceremony and reception, but I've never been there and don't know if the layout would work in a wedding dress...

Is it mostly rocky and slippery? Or are there more grassy, park-like areas that would be walkable in heels?

TIA!  :)

Re: Southford Falls?

  • YESSS. It's so beautiful. I'm sort of sad that I am getting married on the other side of the state, because I wanted to take pictures at Southford Falls.

Here's a picture my photog (Studio1923) took last year. I'll link (clicky) to it also encase it's too small to see.

You can also google "Southford Falls Weddings" and see a bunch of blogs with engagement and wedding pictures. There are some areas that are mossy/slippery, but there's also lots of grassy areas to stand on and get good shots. There's a whole pond with a bit of field behind it which is easy enough to reach.
  • I live about 5 minutes from there, and it is soooo pretty there! I'm doing my pictures there between the ceremony and reception. There are bridges, grassy parts, rocky parts, waterfalls, trails, a pond. It has everything you would want in outdoor pictures : )
I'm really excited about pictures there!!

Just have someone hold your dress when ever you're walking!
And the only downer (at least in the summer time) is goose poop! But that's a problem outdoors in general
