Honeymoon suggestions

Anyone have suggestions on what beach destination is best for a honeymoon in October? I know it's hurricane season so it's hard to find...

Re: Honeymoon suggestions

  • If you want to stay in the Caribbean and don't want to worry about a possible hurricane, look at Aruba, Bonaire, or Curaco. All three islands are outside of hurricane belt.

Otherwise, book a trip to anywhere else in the Caribbean but just make sure to purchase travel insurance in case a hurricane does occur.
  • I've been to Riviera Maya in October a few times and not had anything but sun.  Just because it's hurricane season doesn't gurantee a hurricane or even rain.  Book where you want and can afford and get a travel insurance that covers weather.
  • I'd go where ever and just buy the insurance.  The cost to travel in the fall to the Caribbean is cheaper bc of the threat of hurricanes, but how often do they really happen?!  (I hope I didn't jinx ya! ;) )  The insurance is so minimal to the cost of the trip and it covers everything.
We went to Jamaica September 2010 and again in October of 2011 for a friend's wedding.  We didn't have trouble either time, but our travel agent definitely recommended the insurance.  (And we were able to stay at a nicer resort because costs were so much cheaper than the spring!)  If you want a travel agent recommendation, I can send you ours, just PM me.  Or if you have one you regularly use, I'd talk to them.  If there is a hurricane, it's their problem to get you taken care of, not yours!
  • Blok Island, RI is BEAUTIFUL in October!
  • Nothing in the carribbean is outside the hurricane belt.  NOAH moved it years ago to include the ABCs.

I'd think about a cruise b/c at least the ship can sail out of harm's way.
