Fox Hill Inn vs. Candlewood Inn

Hello,
My fiance and I are looking for venues in the NYC/lower Hudson Valley/Connecticut area, and I came upon Fox Hill Inn and its sister venues, Candlewood Inn and The Waterview. Has anyone gotten married or had experience with these three venues? What can you tell me about your experience?

I have pricing for Fox Hill and Waterview and Fox Hill is definitely more affordable for me. Does anyone know how the pricing for Candlewood compares to the two?

my reception was at the Waterview. You can find my review here http://www.mywedding.com/christianneandjeff/custom2.html. The manager Kelly and my coordinator Mandy were wonderful to work with. From what I was told the pricing for Candlewood is similar to the Waterview.

I'm at the Candlewood.  I booked early so got a discount but I believe their pricing is around $140 pp.  Don't have much experience so far but the place is gorgeous and they include so much with that price.

I'm having mine at the Fox Hill! I checked them both out. Candlewood is beautiful, but has a higher minimum and higher price per person since its right on the water. Fox Hill has a 100 person minimum for my date, and was much more affordable. I also loved the charm and intimacy it provided. Fox Hill and Candlewood do only one event at a time, which was a major prerequesite for me, Waterview can do more than that.

The Fox Hill Inn is having a bridal show on February 20th from 1-4, I'm going in hopes that maybe there will be some food samples I can try out! It might be a good chance to see how everything flows with more people there.

I am going with the Foxhill as well! The fact that it has only 1 event, a lowere min requirement and price per head like Darling said was why we went there!

My family and I have been to both the Foxhill and Waterview (several times by all at Waterview)...The Waterview (and I apologize to anyone who used it and loved it) was by far, a disapointment. I myself booked it for 2 events I ran and was disappointed in the service level/attention guests got, the food and quickness of devliery.  I have talked with several families who attended weddings as guests (not part of the family)...I know they are all the "same company" but at the waterview those guests foudn out that they were "supposedly" served lesser cuts of meat than those at the head table and parents tables, I dont know how accurate that is, but they said their was deffinately at least tho a dissapointment.  The waterview has become known near me now as a "wedding factory" as they can have up to 3 events going on, 2 upstairs and one downstairs, maybe 2(?).  They may be very pretty and can be a "good deal" but many have been disappointed I have heard.

The Foxhill we looked at as several family friends have used it and LOVED it.  The staff is awesome.  My FI and I were going on a whim not expecting to like it (we were being told to go there by Mom and Dad---so were a little resistant lol)  but the woman in charge was amazing, we fell in love with it upon every detail. She worked with us as well on the pricing even! We were able to get for this summer last year July 2 for an evening wedding with gratuity and tax 106 per head! We were stunned! This includes table wine service and open bar, it starts at 6, goes til 11, 1 hour cocktail hour. We are so thrilled!

Good luck!! I vote Foxhill! lol (yes....im biased ;)  )

I am getting married at The Waterview, but I actually looked at all 3 venues. I found that the Waterview was more willing to work with me on price than the Candlewood Inn. Fox Hill's prices are actually supposed to be the best. I was able to save a ton of money by booking an afternoon wedding which brough the cost WAAAAY down from where it would be at night.

We are getting married at the Waterview, but my fiance is a wedding videographer and has worked at all of those venues.  Maybe he's just biased, but he did like the Waterview the best overall, between the venue itself and the view.  He said that Candlewood Inn is nice because of the location, but the ballroom isn't that impressive.  Nothing special stood out to him at the Fox Hill Inn.

    I truly appreciate everyone's input! :)

So we've eliminated Waterview, because FI does not like the pics of it, particularly the exterior, AT ALL. Although certainly different from the other venues, I thought it was kind of cool looking and unique. But at least we're narrowing down!

I think we're leaning towards Fox Hill Inn, they seem to have really good rates and we both love the pics of it online. However, since we'll be in the area to visit Fox Hill, perhaps it would be wise to visit Riverview and Candlewood Inn while we're there. Can anyone tell me if some or all of these venues will allow you to do a tasting before you put down a deposit? Or can we just go there for a regular meal like at a restaurant? Food is a big priority for us, and not being able to try food beforehand makes us kind of nervous.
