Hindu Wedding Venues in CT

Hello All,

I'm trying to find venues in CT that are accommodating to Hindu wedding ceremonies. If you can share your experiences and venues with me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Amanda

I have never attend a Hindu wedding but I remember seeing pics of Hindu ceremony/reception at my venue, The Waterview in Monroe.

What special accomodations do hindu weddings need?  Sorry, I'm very uneducated on that subject!  If we knew a bit more what requirements you'd have of a venue, we might be able to offer ideas of venues that would be flexible enough to fit your plans!

My guest list is about 250 and we are planning to have the wedding in Nov 2013. A Hindu wedding ceremony has an open flame (most facilities because of fire codes won't allow this). Thiis is one of my biggest problems because i would like the ceremony to be indoors.

Hmm... well, my venue (Branford House) wouldn't accomodate that many people indoors and it certainly wouldn't accomodate an open flame as it's an old building.  It can't be contained in any way?  I'm assuming not.  Our venue lets us have candles and such as long as they are in glass containers.

You should probably start by identifying venues that can hold 250 people indoors and then asking if they could accomodate the open flame.  I think the 250 people on its own would be limiting enough, so there's only a select few venues that can accomodate that to begin with.  Sorry I can't be more help!

ETA:  I googled "Hindu wedding Connecticut" to see what came up, and Aqua Turf seemed to have a few links, so maybe check there!  I've heard great things about it.  Also, the Danbury Plaza Hotel & Conference Center has a website specifically for Indian weddings, so I'd assume they would be accomodating to the open flame?  Says they can accomodate up to 500 guests - check them out, too!

La Renaissance in East Windsor can accomodate your guest list and your open flame.
There are a few others. I will get you their names when I get home. I am currently planning a Hindu wedding for a couple and have had to seek out some of these venues for them :)

Not sure how helpful this will be - but about 4 years I go I visited a Hindu temple in Middletown. I'm assuming it is still there....and if you aren't set on having your ceremony and reception at the same venue, perhaps you could have your ceremony at the temple and reception somewhere nearby. Happy planning!
