Cake?

Our cake is included in our package from our venue. We had cake tastings at both of their vendors and we weren't impressed. So now we're on the hunt for a new cake vendor. Does anyone have any recommendations (preferably in New Haven County). Someone recommended JCakes in North Branford. Has anyone used them? Thanks!

Have you looked at Kim's Cottage Confectioners in Durham? Totally amazing. Make sure to try the spiced apple cake with walnut frosting if you do a tasting. It's to die for!

We did a tasting with JCakes about a month ago and will be using them. All their flavors were so delicious, and I loved how their cakes looked also.

We also had a tasting with Chimirri's and their cakes were really yummy too.

I was actually told to stay away from Kim's Cottage Confections by some of the girls on this board who had bad experiences.

I think everyone either thinks Kim's Cottage or Cakes by Donna. And if you like one you don't like the other. I can't stand cakes by Donna but lots of girls love her. I've personally had 3 bad experiences with her.

Kim and Donna are both rated 4.5 stars on every wedding ranking site.

Julias's Bakery in Orange is amazing! My family have been getting cakes from them for years, including my bridal shower and engagement cakes.

Second for Donna.  We had two cakes.  Wedding cake we wanted something simple (she supplied the peonies from her garden), but she also did a Groom's Cake.  Both were delicious!

Our cake is also included in our package and we can choose from 3 different places.  We tasted 2 of them at the bridal show our venue held in March.  We thought we would like the Italian places, but honestly JCakes was way better.  The cake was very moist and had a lot of flavor.  We are planning on using them.

As for Cakes by Donna and Kim's....I recommend Cakes by Donna.  I have at least 3 examples of people who used Kim's and had terrible experiences.

I've never had a wedding cake from J Cakes but I usually order cakes from there for birthdays/holidays/etc.  They've all been delicious! I ended up going with Mr. D's in Wallingford because we're doing cupcakes with a small cake on top for us to cut and we're having our caramel apple favors done there as well! Good luck :)

OMG! Love them!!! You must try the pumpkin cupcake and salted caramel if you haven't yet!  We are doing pumpkin, apple crisp, and chocolate/vanilla with fall colored butter cream.  Our wedding is in October so its fitting with the whole fall thang! : )
