JOP/Officiant recommendations?

FI and I are looking for an officiant for our wedding.  We are not religious, so we would prefer someone who will perform a ceremony that is reflective of our personalities.  TIA!

Sal Fiore!  www.weddingsbysal.com. I think we're paying about $250 for him.  Of course it depends on how far he has to travel (our wedding is in Wolcott).  He's out of Enfield.  He will definitely be able to provide you with a ceremony that matches your personalities.  He has a book FULL of ideas.

We used Mary Pugh. She's very nice and basically let us write our own ceremony- though I think with most couples she writes it. She has a whole bunch of different ceremony examples for you to use. She also takes pictures and records the ceremony in a video at no extra charge. We liked that she stepped from side to side during the ceremony, which gave us some fantastic pictures of just us two with the belugas.

Edit: The only mention of God in our ceremony was the one time I said His name during our vows (my DH didn't say God because he isn't religious). So no worried about religious / non-religious ceremony with her!
  • Betty Allard!  We also had some people push back on the non-religious side.  Betty is a very flexible, open minded JOP - she totally went with the ceremony as I wrote it, with slight tweaks to make sure it was all legal.  We got the readings we wanted, we got the songs we wanted, she said the words we wanted her to, it was fabulous in every way.  She also looks super professional, dressed in black, and speaks really well.

  • Mary Coburn- she is honestly amazing! She writes the entire ceremony based on each couple so they are all different. She is also very responsive and helpful- she is like a second wedding coordinator!. I cannot say enough good things about her!
