Rustic Venues in CT for a 10,000 Budget

Hi everyone!

I just got engaged last month and we have set out budget for our 2013 wedding at 10,000. We want something rustic and/or a venue that allows us to use a tent. Everything we found has overa  4,000 rental fee that includes nothing but the site. Any suggestions on places that include tables, chairs etc? We'd like to stay in Southeastern CT but are willing to venture out of our area as well. Thank you all in advance!

  • How many guests do you think you will have?  The Dudley Farm in Guilford has a barn that has a cheaper rental fee, but it doesn't include anything, so you would have to find tables, chairs, caterer etc.

  • Not sure if I would call it rustic but you could look at the pavillion at rocky neck state park.  I believe it's fairly inexensive to rent (somewhere around $3K maybe?  a bit less?) and the tables and bathrooms are already present.
  • Thanks ladies! We are planning on inviting around 105 but could be less if everyone doesn't come. We don't have a "b" list so it will be 105 or less. I will definitiely check both of those places out.
  • Also, are you super set on having the tent?  My wedding is at Grassy Hill Lodge in Derby and it's definitely a rustic venue.  All their prices already include tax and the wedding package includes a 5 hour reception time with 5 hour open bar, cocktail hour, plated dinner, cake, linens, day of coordinator, centerpieces, escort cards, and champagne toast.  Seeing as how tax is already incorporated and there are no service charges, it's very reasonable pricing, but if it still ended up being out of budget, you might be able to talk to them about having your event there at a non-meal time on a saturday or sunday and just doing cocktail snacks and cake.  The wedding times for Saturday are 12-5 I believe and then the evening wedding is from 7-midgnight.  You can choose any time slot for sunday.
  • ok! Good to know. We have looked into a few and are waiting to hear back! Thanks, all.

  • I got married at Wickham Park and had 107 people.  The site includes the tent, table, chairs, cabin, admission to the park for all your guests.  The site fee is ~$3000 depending on the day (we did a Sunday afternoon because it was cheaper).  Also we used Delaney House/Log Rolling catering out of Holyoke, MA.  The food was AWESOME, they are super easy to work with and they have a deal with Wickham to include the Wickham fee with their catering plans.
