Capellaro's or Tarrywile?

Looking to do something informal maybe end of summer or fall. Have no idea what will be available, but we're pretty flexible. Having a small affair. I've been to weddings at Tarrywile, which is beautiful, but not a Danbury resident, so expecting cost just for renting about 2500? Also I know catering and everything else is extra.
I have never been to Capellaro's in Bethel and have not heard if it is very nice, has excellent food, VERY IMPORTANT, or how expensive. I have heard it is budget friendly though.
Just looking for thoughts on anyone who has been there or priced it out.
Thanks so much!!Sealed

  • We were going to look at Tarrywile, but the coordinator wasn't the best to work with... we couldn't even get her to book a date to let us look at the location, so we finally gave up.  FYI, you also have to hire a police officer for the whole duration of your rental time when you rent Tarrywile, so that adds to the cost too.  I don't know anything about Capellaro's.

We ended up having our wedding at the Lounsbury House in Ridgefield.  You might consider checking it out.  We had 75 people, but it can fit over 100.  It's a beautiful georgian mansion.  It's really nice if you want an alternative location, and there is also a bridal suite and grooms suite upstairs to get ready in.  Very nice.  PM me your email address if you'd like to see some of our picture at the Lounsbury.  The rental cost ended up being somewhat comparable to Tarrywile, but it's a nicer building.  We used Ciao! Catering out of Danbury for the reception and for our rehearsal dinner.  They were sooooo reasonably priced with better food and larger quantity than any of the other caterers we interviewed.  Totally delicious and the price and service couldn't be beat.  Tom Devine is in charge.  He basically ran our reception too.  I can't rave about him enough.

If you want any other info about the Lounsbury, let me know!

I know Kelly Kristen, the manager at Capellaro's and I would highly suggest going to talk to them.  She's amazing to work with and has been doing weddings forever.  I think she's semi-new to Capellaro's and she took us on a tour and the place looks beautiful now!  The have an upstairs for a more formal affair and downstairs for a more casual feel.  I think it's also quite a good deal, and she's willing to work with you for what you want.

If I didn't have my heart set on the Candlewood Inn since I was little girl, I would totally have it at Capellaro's.  If you call, ask to talk to Kelly - she know's her stuff and told us which vendors we should be using as well.

Nothing against Tarrywile, I'm just not familiar with it.  Another thought could be the Dana Holcolm House in Newtown (next to Edmond Town Hall).  We had a company Christmas party and it was really nice for a smaller event.

    Good luck!

  • Thank you ladies!!! That very helpful and I'll be checking out all the possibilities! It's always great to hear others personal experiences. The Lounsebury house looks gorgeous but I've never been. I have been to Candlewood Inn, and it was wonderful from food to decor. I remember it in the old days, and it's so nice now! Will touch base as plans develop! Ty!!
