JAMKAT Entertainment RANT

Hi all,

I don't usually post on these sites but I received a very unprofessional email from this vendor yesterday and thought I should share with other brides still planning. I should start by saying we were in between three DJ's all of whom we really liked and all of whom had wonderful raves here and on the other sites. We decided to go with one of the three who offered us a significant discount in his price and who works at our venue weekly. When I followed-up to thank the other DJ's and let them know that we had decided to go with someone based mostly on our budget here is the appalling response I received from JAMKAT Entertainment.

Subject: Your loss...

We would have beat any competitors quote... Good luck with your budget DJ.

Mark

We found Mark to be very kind during the planning process but I just found this email to be so rude and unprofessional. Not something an established wedding vendor should be sending just because brides are conscious of their budgets!! Maybe he was having a bad day?!?

I know how you feel....I was furious when I got a similar e-mail from Powerstation because we went with someone else. However, I will say, I know plenty of people that used Powerstation and they had great experiences...it was just the guy we were dealing with. I will not recommend the company because they allow their staff to be so unprofessional. I believe the guy we dealt with was also the sales manager.

I also posted a similar type of response from a DJ a few months ago. I agree... extremely unprofessional. I feel all vendors should be appreciative of those couples who actually get back to them to let them know when they haven't been chosen! Received several very nice responses from many of the photographers we were considering and I will definitely recommend them to anyone I speak with in the future!!

Wow. How unprofessional. I'd also like to point out that the sentence should read "We would have beaten any competitor's quote..." So not only does he fail at professionalism, but he fails at mastery of the English language.

I got an e-mail too, from a different DJ, stating in bold underlined print how dissapointed he was with me that I went with another DJ. I was shocked!

I feel like this is happening too much with DJ's......maybe these DJ's need to be mentioned. It would be interesting to see if they are the same company so that future brides can be weary of even contacting them and wasting their time.

Totally true story: IRL I'm a radio DJ and a few of my co-workers DJ weddings (I do not). One day about 6 months before my wedding I was having a conversation here with other brides about how much is reasonable to spend on a wedding DJ. It is my personal opinion that spending over $1,000 for a DJ is excessive, and I said so in the thread.

About 2 days later I got an email -to my WORK email- from some wedding DJ (it *might* have been Powerstation Events but I honestly can not 100% remember) chewing me out for my opinion. "You're just a small-town, part-time radio DJ; you have no idea what goes into wedding DJing and all the expenses involved, blah blah blah." I was a DJ Melee bride! I never even considered or met or emailed the guy who contacted me.. it was totally random, totally out of the blue.

So not only was this guy stalking TK, he figured out who I was and got my work email address from my station's website, then proceeded to go on an ignorant rant. (And for the record, YES I know what goes into wedding DJing and have great respect for wedding DJs. And I am NOT "small town, part-time".. asshat) It was the most infuriating, unprofessional thing I've ever seen.

I think the problem is that while many DJs are seasoned pros, there are plenty of clowns out there who are just hotshots with tempers, egos, and expensive equipment that they feel qualifies them as a "professional wedding DJ." And of course, brides have few ways to really tell the difference between a pro, and some fool who's going to fly off the handle if he's not hired.

This!!! I e-mailed Powerstation thanking him for his time and letting him know I went with someone else. He asked who (for business reasons supposedly) and the reason why. I told him we booked with DJ Melee because we were impressed when we met him and ultimately his price is what sold us (I'm not talking pennies). His response was something along the lines of "I don't know much about him except that he's mostly a club DJ so if you are confident that he knows how to run a wedding and you are saving THAT much money then I guess you win". That response burned his bridges with me. A professional response would have been simply "I wish you the best of luck", but now I will never recommend him for that comment. I was in shock...for a few days actually at how rude it was that he couldn't accept it and move on.

OMG!!!! Are you serious?!?! That is INSANE!!! Who is he to think that he can do that? Get a life buddy!

I cannot even believe that this guy would respond like that in his email. Good thing you did not use him....who knows what else he would of gotten crazy over.

There are so many DJ's out there that think they are the end all when it comes to entertainment. But like stated above...all they have is the fancy equipment, lights, etc. but no personality to go along with what qualifies them as a true entertainer and professional!

Hello to everyone on this post. My name is Al Vagnini and I am the owner and founder of Powerstation Events. This thread has been brought to my attention and I trust that you can understand my need to respond here. I can tell you that the culture here is all about superior service, both at the events we serve as well as in the planning process. With regard to Carebear's experience with us, I can only apologize for what I believe to be a very isolated incident. The person in question on our staff was simply trying to differentiate our level and type of experience/service. We are sorry that it came accross as anything other than that. I know that this was brought to our attention by CareBear before (about a year or more ago) and it was addressed internally at that time. We reaffirmed our position with all of our staff at that time, which is when we learn of a potential client's decision to go another way, we always wish them well with all of their wedding plans. With regard to JennyLove, I will respectfully ask that you confirm whom you had this experience with before indicating that it "might" be Powerstation. Even though you go on to say you are not 100% sure, you leave the door open when it may have nothing to do with our company. I trust that anyone reading this that either owns a business or works for a closely-held small business surely understands our need to protect our very solid 30-year reputation. No one is perfect and if there is a problem, we of course want to know about it so we can take care of it, learn from it and improve. That is the culture here and anyone that is considering hiring us or has already done so needs to know that is the case. Thanks for your time and best of luck to all of you.
