What are you/did you do for your favors?

I am down to planning all the small details of the reception and am starting to think about favors now.  I'd love to do something not-traditional but nothing too crazy either.  I set my budget for favors at about $120, and we should have about 125-130 guests.  Do you have any suggestions?!

A candy buffet is an option, but do you think that is doable for $120?  Thanks!

  • I loved my favors, but they were a little work... but endedup being fairly inexpensive.

I got married in August - from when we had gotten engaged I'd gone tag saling and found various sized and shaped glass bottles (like antique soda or medicine bottles). SInce these were from tag sales, I'd say I averaged about $.50/bottle.  I purchased yellow and orange roses from Costco (about $0.67 each) and used the bottles as a vase. Tied a ribbon around the neck of the bottle and it had the guest's name (1 bottle per couple/family, one flower for each guest) and table number on it.

we are doing a photo booth with frames as gifts, def over your budget tho the total is close to 500.

id check martha stewarts website she has some really cute ideas for DIY favors that you could do inexpensivly.

You could try to do the candy buffet im not sure if you could do it for that price tho you'd really have to shop around and find good deals, if you wan to go that route check on the classifieds boards Brides are always selling jars and scoops there.

We are doing a candy buffet.  My parents, aunt, cousin all have those large candy jars so they are nice enough to take whatever they have in them out so that we can use them for the day.  We haven't decided what candy we are going to do yet, but I would scope it out at BJ's, Sams or Costco before you commit to anything.  The prices at BJ's are very doable though.

  • We're doing a cookie bar, and having my mom, grandmother, aunts (who are all amazing bakers) each make a kind of cookie for everyone to choose from.
  • We did homemade jam.  It was super easy and everyone loved them.  In fact you could put anything in mini mason jars.  I ordered business cards for free from Vistaprint, punched holes in them and used raffia to tie them on the jars as tags.

The tag read: Love is Sweet!  So is our homemade pineapple jam.  Please enjoy it as we have enjoyed you sharing our special day.

We are doing a photobooth and the guests will get copies of all of their pictures, also...since we've been together for 11 years, since high school, we are kinda doing a "through the years" theme and as a favor we were thinking of making a CD of all of our favorite songs together through the years. It will be super cheap and different. My dad and stepmom also mentioned maybe doing personalized cookies as well.

  • I went a little crazy with this.  First, I used these elephants w/name & table number.  This was special to me, as a way to remember my grandmother who loved elephants:

But our main favor was starfish bottle openers (our reception was Mystic Seaport):

And thennnn... since I initially wanted to do a candy buffet, I decided to wrap 3 pieces of rock candy in a clear bag/ tied a ribbon on it, and put it at each person's place setting....

  • We did a candy buffet and we also gave out mini bottles of wine for each of the guests. We had 125 guests.  Our candy buffet cost around $400 with all of the candy and the jars, but we went a little over board :)

  • We are giving everyone a big old chocolate truffle at each place setting. I figure you can't go wrong with chocolate!...and my mom can order truffles at wholesale cost through her job, which is nice. My old college roommate comes from a family of chocolatiers and they have a "chocolate factory" in Vermont...so we are ordering a bunch of those, and putting them in little individual boxes in lavender (my wedding color)...and tying a little ribbon around each box. The boxes will be cheap because they can be ordered from an Oriental Trading catalog. One of the few DIY projects that I am doing for my wedding (I'm not crafty!) so I'm excited to do it :)

  • We will be doing a donation to CTBHI (supports breast cancer - money stays in CT) along with some chocolate covered pretzels (yum!)
  • We are doing a photobooth with frames for their photos.  I am also putting orange or blue (our colors) rock candy at each place setting.

We loved our favors & got them when they were on a serious sale!

We also used www.pricewisefavors.com (they were the most decently priced ones our there).

We're making homemade sauce (like a sweet & sour sauce) and this is SUCH a great idea! I was going to make each tag, along with making STDs, invitations, and placecards, but your tags came out great and would be so much easier!
