what's your budget exactly?  I'm getting married at Grassy Hill Lodge in Derby, CT and it was one of the best priced venues we looked at, you get a lot for your $$ there.  Also check out glastonbury Hills Country Club, they are also very affordable.
  • I'm having my reception in Farmington at Sarah Porter Memorial-it's the hall owned by First Church Congregational of Farmington and across the street from Miss Porters.  Very reasonable, comes with tables and chairs.  Has two chandeliers and high ceilings.  Will have to bring your own caterer, but they have a great list of vendors.  PM me for the coordinator at Sarah Porter-he's very nice.
  • What is your definition of cost effective? It will be easier to suggest places with that in mind.
  • mill on the river in south windsor. just had mine there! it was perfect and beautiful!

  • im also looking for affordable options in CT.. I would like outside and am not against a  public park or something that will be cheaper like that..but also really love dancing and would like to have a dance floor/ at least a place to dance incorperated .. I am willing to do alot myself and think outside the box..I like the idea of Webb Barn..but am scared that things will add up too quick with it being about 3000 just for the venue..any ideas???? thanks
  • The Webb Barn in Old Wethersfield ( we got marrie dhere and loved it /  Elizabeth Park Pond House  - Hartford/ Wickahm park Manchester
  • HAve you looked into Seasons at the Tradition in WAllingford?? We are booking it for our wedding in July 2013. They are AWESOME to work with, the food is great (we went for dinner), the grounds are nice, they have an outdoor area (with backup area in case of rain) AND the inside is beautiful! Plus, they are willing to work with us to make it really personal and detailed! The prices are affordable and you can make it as GRAND or as affordable as you want, which we liked!!!! Good luck!
