Inn at Mystic?

Hi everyone! I'm not actually engaged yet, lol, but I'm hoping to be annnnny time now! (Hey, Christmas is coming...!) It didn't occur to me at first that I might be "allowed" to post on these boards without a ring on my finger, but heck, Im going for it!

Ring or not, I'm already planning my wedding, but since I realize how crazy I would appear if I actually called venues to get price quotes, I thought I'd check out the Knot boards to see what I could find out from "others who have come before me"! For the most part, I've found all the answers I've wanted, except with regard to one venue:

The Inn at Mystic

It's currently at the top of my list (along with Guilford Yacht Club and Rocky Neck State Park's pavilion) and I really would love to know ANYTHING there is to know about it, but especially about $$$ before I fall too much in love with it. Actually, the same goes for the other two venues! The more info the better :-)

If you've got a second and aren't too appalled by the fact that I'm planning my wedding already, please respond!

Thanks :-)

Re: Inn at Mystic?

  • I hope your boyfriend knows you're looking at venues. Our venue choice was a joint decision, since the wedding is about both the bride AND the groom. =)

Unfortunately, I don't think we've had any brides who got married at the Inn lately, but maybe someone else had contacted them for information.
  • Hi there!

I sorta looked at all 3 of those venues.  The downside of all 3 venues IMO is that the wedding needs to end by 10pm because they are all outdoor venues and there are noise issues.

Inn at Mystic was reasonably priced for the area.  Don't know anything about the food quality, but we didn't look long because of the time issue.  The grounds were not even - wedding corrdination even said that no one could wear heels for cereomny becuase of the grounds.  Venue is outdoors in the tent (can't use the manion because it's too small).

Guilford I didn't visit in person.  Heard that the wedding coordinator there is very unreliable.  So if you're not local (which it doesn't look like you are), then I'd be cautious.

Rocky Neck is a public park.  So no kitchen/bathroom facilities and anyone can wander into your wedding.  It's a lot more work to do something like this and normally much more money too.
  • Oh wow, thanks for the great insights!

Yes, we live in Florida right now, but we both grew up on the CT shoreline (I'm from Westbrook) so that's where we'll get married. Anyway, all those details are really helpful! I didn't realize there aren't any kitchens/bathrooms at the Pavilion-- yikes!-- or that all those venues shut you down at 10. I'm thinking about a brunch wedding though (I'm lucky to have a bf who is giving me free reign over all the details since I love party planning and decorating!) so the time issue might not be so bad anyway.

    Thanks for the helpful tidbits!
