gifts for mother/father of the bride & groom

What is everyone doing for gifts?  are you doing one gift for couple?  or seperate gifts for the moms and dads?  I'm also wondering if it is customary to give both sets of parents the same gift or can they be different?

thanks!

Re: gifts for mother/father of the bride & groom

  • My mom and FMIL will both be getting wedding cake pandora charms.

I'm not sure yet what to do for my dad.

FFIL and F Step FIL are groomsmen so they will get those gifts.

We are just getting F Step MIL something small because she has no involvement whatsoever with the wedding.  I didn't really want to get her anything, but FI feels bad so he wants to get her a little something.
  • I am so stuck on this too! I don't want to be too impersonal but my parents are the type that don't need anymore "stuff". I was thinking the coffee table books would be great, but how do I indicate I'm getting them those? When do you give those gifts anyways, the rehersal dinner? Day of the wedding?
  • I saw a cute gift on pinterest for FMIL and could also work for other parents as well - a handkercheif embroidered with a message something like, Thank you for raising your son to be the man of my dreams. Love, ____ with the date of the wedding.
To your own parents it could say - To dry your tears today as you've always dried mine.

I like this idea and lots of websites seem to sell them pretty cheap.
