Re: Cruise in November????

  • DH and I took a 7 day cruise last November for $600 a person for a balcony room. If you were to do the inside room it would be even cheaper. But I highly suggest the balcony room because you can eat your breakfast out there in private and you have more room and your own private outside sitting area.

We took a Royal Caribbean cruise out of San Juan that stopped in Aruba, Curacao, Dominica, and St. Thomas and it was an amazing itinerary and we had perfect weather the entire time.

I am taking a cruise to the Bahamas in December.  We will be in Freeport and Nassau.  Do you have any recommendations for things to do or excursions if you were at these places?  We will have about 10hrs or so at each place and I am trying to get an idea of what people recommend.

I took this same cruise! It was awesome. Freeport was my favorite. We chose not to do excursions because we like to adventure on our own, however, the excursions did look fun.

In Freeport we stepped off the boat and there are tons of people waiting to take you anywhere. We hopped in a cab and headed to Port Lucaya and did the shopping and eating thing. We walked across the street to the beach and laid out. Since it was December... the resorts on Freeport's beach were closed or just plain dead. I have to recommend Billy Joe's. Fried conch and rum runners. It's a little shack on the beach, but it was beautiful! I loved how they made the conch fresh right there.

In Nassau I was a little more overwhelmed. It's very busy and kind of dirty. The first time I went to Nassau I did a walking tour that I printed from Frommer's that took us to all the historical spots near the port (though people in Nassau drive crazy so this was scary!). We saw the Queen's Staircase which is pretty and climbed to the top of Fort Fincastle and saw the city. We spent the rest of the time at Senor Frogs...which is just like any other American restaurant/party bar.

The second time I went to Nassau we hopped on a water taxi and went to Paradise Island where Atlantis is. The beach there is beautiful. There were people making drinking on the beach in coconuts and we just relaxed.

You'll have fun whatever you do. The Bahamas aren't that much different than America...especially Nassau...
