Connecticut

Looking for just a ceremony site.

Hello everyone,

I need your help.  We are trying to plan our wedding in CT. We are going to do a very small get together with only our closest friends and family (25 total).  The game plan is to find a place that will allow us to just have a wedding ceremony and photos shortly after,  and then go to Mohegan Sun to have a private dinner at the Landsdowne Pub, and dancing at one of the nightclubs. Since our wedding date is October 2014, we want to find a location that can boast beautiful autumn foliage as a backdrop to our ceremony and photo session. The problem is every time we find a location we like, the site will not allow rental for just a ceremony (must be a ceremony/reception package).

Do you all know of any cute bed and breakfasts that would host just a wedding ceremony, or any lodges.  We are even open to any kind of location ideas really.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • You might want to check out Mystic Aquarium. I *think* they allow you to do ceremony only.

If not, right next door is Olde Mystic Village. You could contact them about whether you could have just your ceremony there.

Mystic Seaport does weddings too, but they probably require ceremony & reception.
  • maybe a state park
counting down to the big day
  • Gillette Castle in East Haddam allows you to do just ceremonies outside on the terrace overlooking the Connecticut river.  So if you are having your wedding between June and Sept. then I would check that out- very pretty spot.

  • What about Rocky Neck State Park?
  • Wood Acre  Farms in Terryville..OMG beautiful..Im getting married there October 2014 too :)
  • Maybe check out a vineyard in the south eastern part of the state to avoid too much travel time to the casino.
