Venue HELP! (please)

My finace and I were engaed nearly two years ago, a year and a half at least and due to an illness and death in the family we put it completely off. As of today we are planning again. We set a date! It is like we are starting over, but we are totally paralyzed when it comes to a venue. We live in DC but would like to get married in CT to honor my Dad's memory. I love the colonial feel. That's what I want. Something antique, elegant,  outdoor/indoor and in Fairfield county? It seems harder than it should be. We looked, a year ago, at the Keeler Tavern, it is lovely but it is totally starting from scratch-it overwhelms me. Someone mentioned the Roger Sherman Inn. Any thoughts? I would so appreciate some guidence. I am lost.
Thanks,
Ashley

I highly recommend the Inn at Longshore in Westport! Beautiful ballroom for the reception but also beautiful grounds for an outdoor ceremony and pictures. My wedding will be there in April but I have nothing but good things and have high expectations.

I second the Inn at Longshore in Westport. I've also seen weddings done at the Burr Homestead in Fairfield. It's a colonial mansion, built in 1790. They have pretty gardens as well if you wanted an outdoor ceremony.

I know you said you looked at Keeler Tavern, but did you look at the Lounsbury House in Ridgefield?  We got married there.  We considered Keeler Tavern, but the Lounsbury was much easier to work with and had the atmosphere we wanted.  It's a beautiful Georgian mansion. You do need to bring in a caterer, but honesty, it wasn't a big deal.  We used Ciao! Catering and they took care of all the details that a full service location would take care of.  It's an amazing location for picture and is definitely not your regular banquet hall style wedding venue.  If you want any info on the place or want to see pictures, but just me know.

You could also check out the Burr Homestead in Ffld and the Pavillion in Ffld. Both beautiful places. The Burr Homestead is an old mansion with beautiful property!
