Hey all! Finally back from my honeymoon and wanted to get my vendor reviews posted since I know how helpful it was for me to read others! Sorry these are so long!
Wadsworth Mansion: A+
Both Kristy and Deb at the Mansion were phenomenal to work with. They responded to all my questions and helped me out every step of the way. The Mansion in general is beautiful-and we didn't have to spend much on flowers and decor since it is so pretty as it is. The only issue we had was a missing purse at the wedding, but I think that happens at every wedding. The day of my wedding they lost power, and Deb showed up to make sure everything was okay. They ordered a generator and have a gas stove so they could still cook. Luckily the power turned on right as I got there. HIGHLY recommend this venue!!!
Ashley Therese Photography: A+
I booked Ashley before I even confirmed my venue location!! After meeting with her once I knew she was the person I wanted to do my wedding. She is so attentive and her attention to detail is phenomenal. I got an unbelievable amount of responses about how our engagement photos turned out and am SO excited to see how the wedding pictures come out. I cannot WAIT to use her again for anything else I need and she is by far one of my most favorite vendors I worked with!!!
Just For You Flowers: A+
Jane constantly gets great reviews on the knot which is why I met with her to begin with. She was a pleasure to work with. I didn't have many ideas as to what I wanted for flowers and she took the little information I gave her along with my incredibly small budget and made a stunning wedding for me. The week before the wedding I started freaking out that I didn't like the centerpieces I was planning on putting together myself. She called me and we figured out something affordable and beautiful to do instead. I could not have been happier with her work.
Grand Gourmet Catering: A
Felix owns two restaurants in New Haven (Nini's Bistro) and the food is out of this world. I know many people who have used him and after meeting with him and doing a taste testing, I booked him right away. He had the best price, the best food and people are still talking about how amazing the food was. The only issue I have was that it would take him awhile to respond to me via email. I understand he has a catering company and two restaurants, but would have appreciated a faster response to some questions I had. We also did a closing station (sliders and fries) at the end of the night which was included in the price. It was a huge hit and people keep commenting to me what amazing food it was.
Two Pour Bartenders: B+
While both Bob and John were amazing to deal with (prompt responses, GREAT price and attentive), the day of the wedding one of the bartenders was incredibly rude to all of our guests. We had about 10-15 complaints about her attitude. The only time I dealt with her was before the guests arrived when me and my bridesmaids wanted a drink and she wouldn't serve us. Deb from the Mansion had to step in and get us drinks herself. Other than that, the other two bartenders they had there were amazing. I wish Bob and John could have been the bartenders but they had another event they had to be at.
Lights Camera DJ's: A+
Duane works at a club in CT and also does a lot of promotional work for some popular bars in my area and KC101. He is by far the best DJ I have ever heard at a wedding. There was not one person who wasn't on the dance floor the entire night. He goes into the crowd and makes sure he is interactive with everyone and plays songs that people actually enjoy (I was adamant about NOT having traditional "chicken dance" kind of songs at my wedding) and he put together a great mix of popular "Top 40" and songs our parents could enjoy as well. Everyone was having so much fun he ended up staying 30 min past his end time because no one would leave the dance floor!
Carriage Limo: B-
They had by far the best price (and we got a lot of quotes). We got both shuttle service and had a limo bring us from the Mansion to the hotel at the end of the night. The shuttle was on time and perfect. The limo however we did have some issues with. We had ordered a bottle of champagne to be in the limo when it picked us up. It wasn't there and the driver told us that the party before us drank it. My husband was upset by that (I really could have cared less) and the driver was incredibly rude and downright nasty about it. When my husband called them the next day they basically said "too bad". BUT, the price was right and everything else went well.
Petonito's Bakery: A+
We tried A LOT of cakes and by the end they all tasted the same to me. The price difference between Petonito's and some of the other places we tried was unbelievable. Mark made the cake exactly as we wanted, it tasted EXACTLY like everything else we tried (we just wanted a vanilla cake with raspberry filling-very simple) and was about half the cost! I of course didn't get to eat it at the wedding, but everyone else said it was great!
Marriott Rocky Hill: B-
The hotel was beautiful and the price was AMAZING!!! It was unfortunately a bit far (15-20 min ride) from the Mansion but was a lot nicer and less expensive than any of the other hotels in the area. They constantly sent me updates on the room block and Katie was a pleasure to work with. The only issue we had was regarding the suite I booked. When I booked it, they required credit card information to hold the room. I was told we would be charged to that card unless we otherwise indicated. When I checked in, I was told everything was all set. We went on our honeymoon and when I got back had several voicemails and e-mails from them saying we didn't pay for the room and needed to get back to them with credit card information. I emailed them back saying I already gave them payment information and was out of the country. I then found out from my parents that they had started calling GUESTS of ours (one of which was my husbands cousin) to try to get in touch with us and get payment information. We were completely humiliated. Once my mom found out (we were still away) she called them and let them know how horrible that was to call guests (they had my parents information and credit card info from breakfast brunch the next morning too but never called them). They did reduce the rate of our room down by about $200 which helped, but still upset me that they actually started calling guests. I would not go back there after that.
I think I covered everything! I know I gave a lot of high marks, but honestly, everyone we dealt with was great!! If anyone has any questions feel free to send me a message
