Honeymoon at the Intercon Thalasso in Bora Bora

We just booked our honeymoon to Bora Bora!  I wish we could just skip the wedding planning and go straight to Tahiti!

Has anyone else ever stayed at the Thalasso?  Anyone else going there?  Would love some recommendations -- especially about the spa!  What about diving there?

We also just created a honeymoon registry with www.honeymoonwishes.com   This trip is our dream honeymoon but we were thinking it would be nice to help have some of the extra fun and romantic experiences as our wedding gifts.

Re: Honeymoon at the Intercon Thalasso in Bora Bora

  • That sounds like you will have an amazing trip!  I can't help with Bora Bora recommendations--though I'd love to go there someday.

You won't find much support for Honeymoon Registries on TheKnot.  It's rude to ask your guests for money, and this is essentially doing just that.  Read the sticky at the top of the page for more on Honeymoon Registries and why they're not such a great idea...
  • I have been to Bora Bora twice, but have not stayed at the Thalasso. I did, however, go on a tour of the property while I was there. It's very modern and chic and the rooms are huge! The spa is magnificent. Definitely do one of the thalasso therapy treatments as well as experiencing the various pools in the spa itself. The beach area is nice, but you will not find much onsite snorkeling or diving. Definitely look into booking dives through either the resort or an offsite dive company. Not sure which category you booked, but the view from the property is just amazing! Be sure to stroll up to the chapel. It's very cool and also has ana amazing view. The Thalasso also has a complimentary shuttle between it and Le Moana. Le Moana is a much smaller hotel, but you have easy access to the main island from there and you can try some of their restaurants!

I don't have anything to add in the way of HM registries. I have never used one, so no help there.

  • We stayed at the Thalasso Bora Bora for our honeymoon in May 2010. We had a wonderful time there...I posted trip report on my blog: http://darcela.blogspot.com/2010/06/honeymoon-in-french-polynesia.html

The spa was good! We booked a couples massage and bath and they have daily special rate from the newsletter, so look out for that for specials...

We didn't do any diving, but we did jet ski and the 4x4 safari tour. Jet ski was fun, the 4x4 was just ok.

Book dinner at Le Villa Mahana in Bora Bora, the food was awesome!

Let me know if you have other questions!
  • Thanks everyone for the feedback - we are so excited to go!!!
  • we're staying there as well and are SO excited!

our friends who stayed at the Thalasso took this youtube video of their bungalow in case you're interested in looking at it!

  • We also are honeymooning in Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora! How exciting! I am looking forward to this honeymoon more than the wedding I think Wink I don't have any info on where you are staying, since this is our first time. Before I was engaged, I had a friend that had created a Honeymoon Registry and I didn't think twice - I loved it, in fact, and bought something for her and her hubby to be for both the shower and wedding from the registry. Honeyfund.com is where I was thinking of possibly registering... Because the money comes to you via PayPal, but your Guests purchase things like "couples massages" for you. You can spend the money as you wish, but it helps your Guests feel as if they are buying you specific items. Just a thought. We haven't decided if we are going to set that registry up yet or not.
