Honeymoon in Hawaii - Time delay?

Definitely planning on Hawaii for my honeymoon but now just have to figure out timing before I start the rest! We live in Cali but our wedding is in PA and with our work schedules, it might be better to postpone our honeymoon until a month after the wedding. Has anyone out there done this? Were you happy with this decision? Trying to decide if it makes sense. I know no matter what we will have an amazing time but it will be hard to go back to work right after the wedding but I will be less stressed if we postpone to November. Also, we would postpone to a timing around Thanksgiving in Hawaii, is this a pricier time than mid-October? Or still low season so shouldn't change much? Any help or input is appreciated!

Re: Honeymoon in Hawaii - Time delay?

  • We're delaying our honeymoon several months. We're getting married in September, and planning a ski honeymoon to Aspen - which we obviously can't do until Feb/Mar.
  • It's all about what works for you.  If you want, you can do a mini-moon right after the wedding, stay in a nice local hotel (or a short drive) for 2-3 nights, just so you aren't going right back to work.  Then when the timing works better, you can do your 'big' honeymoon trip.

  • Yeah, I think a month is nothing.  Good way to spread out the lovin;)

We have  our honeymoon a week afterour wedding...so I decided to fit in a few days of work so I didnt waste precious holiday time.

  • We were in Hawaii over Thanksgiving and prices were definitely higher in Maui for that week.
  • Our wedding was in July. We went on our honeymoon 6 months later (January).  I'm not sure exactly what your concern might be.
  • Waiting a little is totally fine :)

Thanksgiving is one of the most expensive times to fly, and with rising fuel prices, Novemer will be a VERY expensive month for flying. Just FYI.
  • Thanks everyone. Still can't decide and yes, rising fuel prices are getting brutal! I could put Thanksgiving as the middle weekend on the 2 week trip so save on not travelling on peak holiday travel days but am still going to need to dive further into hotel prices, etc. for comparison!
