Honeymoon in September

Hi!
We are getting married 09/11/11 and want to go on a nice honeymoon, relaxing, just for a few days to get away - somewhere with a beach.  I have heard all about hurricane season, but does anyone have suggestions where they went in the past? Including good resorts, etc.? We are looking for all inclusive resort.

Agree with pp and read below other posts worred about Sept/Oct HMs.  It's not a major concern.  Just get trip insurance that covers bad weather.

I went to Puerto Rico durning hurricane season.  Got lower rates and ended up with perfect weather.

St Lucia- it usually is pretty safe because of it's local- my sister went after 9/10 wedding a few years ago- she raves about it!

Yes, I keep hearing about St. Lucia being a good choice.  But I just went there last October for a best friend's destination wedding and FI didnt come with me. I want to go somewhere thats new to both of us.

We've been to Riveria Maya twice in October (beginning and mid) and always have had gorgeous weather.

It's not something you need to be overly concerned about.  

Just get insurance and have a good time.

I am also getting married in Sept and we had to take into consider hurricane season...That is why we booked our honeymoon to Hawaii. It's an obvious increase in price but hey... you only get married once!!

I had friends who honeymooned in St. Lucia. I guess although it is in the Caribbean it hasn't been hit with a hurricane in like 20 years or something.

If you come on over to the Sept 2011 board, they just did a posting on what everyone is doing for their honeymoon, i dont know if it would help but you could get some ideas.. all sorts of different budgets and ideas there..

*groan* I will repeat once more:

FI lived in Cuba for 26 years and has never been hit by a hurricane.  Rain yes, Strong winds yes, Blistering sun yes, Snow no and hurricane no.

You know it IS possible that you go somewhere on your HM and it rains the whole time you're there.  There is no controlling that.  Mother Nature is a biatch sometimes but hey we all deal with it because we have no choice. 

Point of post: Go wherever you want to go and have FUN no matter what weather crisis comes your way.

I understand the concern (Katrina girl here) and I understand how profoundly a hurricane can screw up your plans (and whole life sometimes).  But INSURANCE is a fantastic thing.

You can't let those remote possibilities dictate your life.  And for that matter, even IF a hurricane strikes at an inconvenient time for your travel plans you can't let that ruin your life either.
