Shower invitees sending gifts...

I went home for lunch today and found two boxes from Bed Bath and Beyond on my carport (one looking scarily dented).  I opened both to find wrapped (hopefully unbroken) gifts.  I checked out the packing slip, and they're from a couple of out-of-town relatives who won't be able to make it to my bridal shower this weekend.  This is the third and fourth delievered gifts I've gotten for the shower, along with a few that my mom has said she's been given to take the shower.  While I GREATLY appreciate the gifts and I'm sure that there will be plenty of people there, I'm sort of bummed out that so many people won't be able to make it.

I'm sure you will have plenty of friends and family attending your shower!!! Looks like you are having over 300 people invited to your wedding, so I dont think there will be a shortage of people at your shower or wedding. Having less people at your shower will be easier on you too so you can spend time with the guests you do have there.  I don't expect any of my friends and family (even my bridesmaids) to travel out of town to be able to attend a couple hour shower. They are already paying to attend my bachelorette party and then again for my wedding a month later. That's really nice they decided to send a gift still. I feel bad my MOH is driving 6 hours each way this coming weekend to attend my shower. 2 other bridesmaids, one lives in Georgia and one lives in Arizona and I no way expect them to travel out of town to be there this weekend, I actually told them not to even think of coming as I know how expensive travel is and that it would be more important to me for them to attend my bachelorette party in vegas.

  • You're completely right.  In truth, I wasn't expecting most of the out-of-town people to be there.  I guess it just sort of hit me a little differently than I expected.  But I would rather have them at the wedding than the shower if they can make it!
  • Sorry it's making you sad though! Just think of how much fun youre going to have at your shower and that all that out of town people that can't make it have thought of you still by sending you gifts! That means a lot I think that they are thinking of you still on your shower day even though they can't physically make it.

  • That is a bummer! But how fun to get wedding mail all the time!! I'm sure you shower will still be a blast.
