Bora Bora / Moorea excursion recommendation

We are heading there on our HM in a few weeks and I'm looking for things to do other than diving off our OTW bungalow and snorkeling (which is more than enough for me every day).

In Moorea we are booking a trip to a motu w/ lunch and then a trip to the Tiki Village for a show and dinner.

In Bora Bora I found some "Polynesian Day" that includes a trip around the lagoon, time on a motu, snorkeling, and feeding stingrays/sharks.

Anything else we should check out?  Is the Lagoonariam worth it?  What is it?

FYI -- we love being on the water.  We don't know how to scuba.  And I'd like to avoid paying $500 for an excursion, if possible.

  • Oooh, I'll be curious to hear responses....we'll be there in November ourselves!

</div><div>I would highly recommend the shark feeding.  We did the one in open water, not the lagoonarium one.  It was pretty aweseom because we could see the scuba divers at the bottom with the larger sharks as well.  Our shark and stingray feeding tour also went to Coral Gardens, which is some of the best snorkeling that I've ever seen.  I would make sure that you find a tour that goes there, too, if you like to snorkel.  Our excursion was only about $80 USD pp through our hotel.

  • Totally agree with Ally on the shark feeding. It was awesome and more hands on than the Lagoonarium. In Moorea, I liked the Circle Island Tour. It's not very active or strenuous, but you get to see a lot. We did our tour through Albert. I also enjoyed just renting a car for the day. It allows you to see the whole island, do some shopping, and stop at some smaller eateries that are hard to get to without a restaurant transfer.

This totally makes me want to go back! (It will be my 6th trip because it's so addicting.) I hear Le Taha'a and Bora Bora calling my name :)

  • I was just there in June and absolutely loved the jetski tour that we did. It was with Matira Jet Ski Tours and you go around the entire island. You make a stop to see how coconuts are opened and eat fresh fruit as well as polynesian hot dogs (bananas with fresh shaved coconuts). Was a great way to see the island.

Don't forget to make a reservation at VIlla Mahana. Absolutely amazing food.
