Bora Bora

Has anyone here been to Bora Bora or anywhere in the area? That's what we're looking into and I want some feedback on any hotels to stay in or not to stay in.

Thank you!!! :)

Re: Bora Bora

  • Or, Tahiti in general! :)
  • We looked into French Polynesia before choosing Fiji, but the resorts I really liked the Hilton in Moorea and the IC Thalasso/St. Regis/Four Seasons.

I can recommend my travel agent- she specializes in FP and she's a nestie.  You can reach her at caroline@easyescapestravel.com.  She's very knowledgable, patient and responds really quickly.  She helped us weigh Fiji and FP for a LONG time and never flinched when I made another request!

  • I agree with everyone!
Some of the more popular/nicer hotels are:
    Moorea: Hilton or Sofitel Moorea
Bora Bora: Four Seasons, Intercontinental Thalasso, St. Regis (currently closed until June I believe).

We are staying at the Sofitel Moorea and the Intercontinental Thalasso this coming May. We booked our package from Costco and got a pretty good deal.
  • I've been to Tahiti twice before and LOVED IT of course and now I'm going back for our honeymoon. We're going to Moorea, Bora Bora and Huahine. Here's my 2 cents:

First, depending on your flight you may have to stay overnight in Tahiti. Personally, I think the Manava Suite Resort is best. It's not the closest to the airport, but it's the newest and from the other hotels I've seen it's the nicest. A pleasant way to start off your trip.

Go to MOOREA. Seriously. Bora Bora gets all the attention but on BB you are going for the lagoon and a luxe resort. With Moorea, you are really getting an entire island experience. Hilton Moorea, Sofitel Moorea, Moorea Pearl are all good choices. For overwater though, Hilton is supposedly the best. We stayed there when I went with my family but not overwater. Back then it was the Sheraton.

Bora Bora. Lagoon, lagoon, lagoon! SO gorgeous. It's a great place, but IMO a little overrated. If you're going to go and your budget only allows for a few nights overwater, do it here and do it at the best resort you can afford. Do your research on the hotels right now though because several are doing renovations due to the recent cyclone. Find a travel agent who REALLY knows Tahiti, it will make all the difference. We're staying at the Bora Bora Pearl.

Huahine - from what I've read, it's not luxe at all, it's very down to earth, laid back polynesia and that's what my fiancee and i are looking for for a few days. we're staying at the Te Tiare.

Our travel agent is True Tahiti, they're on Moorea. Hope this helps!
