El Dorado Royale, Riviera Maya

I was wondering if anyone has been there for a vacation or their honeymoon? What did you think of it? We would be going in October 2013.

TIA

Re: El Dorado Royale, Riviera Maya

  • Hi!

Haven't been but we'll be going there next July!! FI's parents have a timeshare there and have been goin there twice a year since...forever. The only time they didn't go was last winter because flights were way up. I've seen tons of beautiful pictures and they always come back with nothing but positive reviews.

We may just upgrade to one of the casitas resorts (they look immaculate!) and do all the travely, fun stuff. I can't wait till we're able to actually book it. Our TA said not till September but flights will be updated by the first week of August.

  • We are looking at the Casitas for August 2013. My mom is part of RCI timeshare group. Please post on your experience. So far, the reviews of the Casitas are great. We'd like to know the opinion of the timehare experience s well. Please post if you find any other details! Looks like we we all be traveling around the same time!
  • We just got back from this resort for our Honeymoon, and it was amazing.  It was just beautiful and the food was fantastic.  We went for 10 days and did not want to come back!  I have been home for almost a week and I really miss the place!  We could not have even wished for a better trip.. We would go back in a heartbeat!
  • We went to El Dorado Royale last August, for 5 nights, and LOVED it!  The grounds were just beautiful, there was such a variety of restaurants, we never had a bad meal, it was great!  The place is huge, you could get lost it's so big, but it's like your own little village, so neat!  We would go back here in a heartbeat!  We stayed in the El Dorado Royale side, and although we did not "stay" at the casitas side, we did venture over there, and we did not like it as much as our side.  Obviously it is personal opinion, but our side had more of the restaurants and pools..it seemed more quiet over there.  The only thing some reviewers on trip advisor seem to complain about are the "sandbags" in the ocean in front of the resort.  They just looked like big rocks to us--they were placed there due to a hurricane years ago.  If you snorkel in the water out front of the resort, you will be amazed at the natural aquarium the sandbags have made-- so many beautiful fish!  We did not have one complaint about it-- enjoyed it so much!  If you have any questions feel free to PM me!
  • Thank you Kristen and Kimberly!

  • I completely agree with Kimberly! We really enjoyed snorkeling right on the beach at the hotel. Ever since we went to EDR we compare our vacations to it. It was so relaxing, the massages are amazing and the grounds are beautiful. Food is great and we did the catamaran outing through the hotel and it was awesome! The water is so gorgeous. They stop and let you snorkel too, which was really cool. Have fun!
