July 2012 Weddings

New Knottie =)

Hello fellow July lovers. A bit about myself...My name is Deborah and I'm as much of a city girl as you can be living in Dallas. My F proposed two nights ago, such a sweet romantic guy he is. We've been talking about getting engaged for a while, so we had already chosen the date of July 15th. I think I want my theme to be kind of whimsical, with glitter, soft color sugar butterflies going up the cake, colors purple and teal-ish (I'm thinking peacock colors without the feathers). I do have a question that is in my mind about July weddings. I'm in Texas and during July the temperatures will be around 100 degrees. This pretty much takes out any outdoor activities I'm sure, but what are ways to put a summer style into a wedding. I can think of ways to do it for every season but summer...perhaps because all I think about is pools and sweat lol. Any ideas or DIY projects would be great...of course being on this forum I'm bound to naturally come by ideas :)

  • I don't have any ideas. Lol congrats & welcome to the board!
  • Welcome!! Our wedding is in Minnesota and we're actually worried about it being too hot, I can't imagine doing this in Texas!

Some ideas if you want your wedding to be indoor- include summer flowers, summer colors, "summery" wedding/BM dresses (shorter dresses), cute summer shoes, summer things like pinwheels, summer drinks like lemonade, beach umbrellas, etc. You could look for a venue that has large windows so people can feel like they're kind of outside without being too hot!

  • Hi date twin!! I'm so excited to have another July 15th bride on this board! As for ideas, I am sticking to summery colors. Also what about serving summer or beachy themed food and drinks? Think cool and tropical.

  • Welcome!  DIY projects are in my bio if you want any ideas: invites, cardbox, aisle runner, etc.

  • Drama Queen...your countdown makes my heart freak out a bit realizing how little time there is! Of course there will be plenty of time to get it done I'm sure. Thanks for the ideas!
