Honeymoon Discussions

NYC/Times Square!

My FH is a military contractor stationed in Kuwait.  He will be coming home one week in advance of our 9/18/11 wedding and will have to head back one week after our big day.  We live in Maryland and decided to stay close to home for our honeymoon to minimize the travel time and have more quality time together enjoying ourselves.  We decided to spend the week in NYC.  We love the night life and being on the go.  We plan to see a couple of broadway shows, do some sightseeing, shopping, take a carriage ride through central park, hit a club or two, eat lots of good food, etc.

Yes, NYC is expensive.  We booked a suite right in Times Square.  The best part of it is that I do a lot of traveling for my job abd I have a ton of hotel rewards points.  I was able to get a $599/night suite for FREE for 5 nights!!  Woo Hoo!  What a savings and a major honeymoon check! We'll use the hotel savings to shop and eat.  Lol!!

Is anyone else honeymooning in Manhattan?

Re: NYC/Times Square!

  • Sounds like a sweet deal - enjoy it!!!

No honeymoon in Manhattan for me, too close to home and we've been there soooo many times.
  • no HM in nyc for me either-too close for me too! have a great time.

  • We are too!  But we'll be staying at FIs Great Aunts sweet apartment near Washington Square Park.  She doesn't live there anymore, but keeps the apartment in the city for visits.  We are going to be in NYC for a few days, then we are driving up through Vermont to Montreal.  We wanted to originally go to Paris, but that was way to expensive.
  • Wow thats awesome!!! I dated a guy from NYC and was visiting once a month. Walking around never got old!

  • My FI and I are foregoing a honeymoon for a one year anniversary trip. However, we are going up to NYC for a weekend in December to see the Christmas displays, ice skate in Central Park, and see the tree at 30 Rock. I think NY is absolutely romantic, and there are so may amazing restaurants and adventures!

Sarabeth's is an awesome restaurant on Central Park South with famous brunch. If you sit outside you have a great view of Central Park. If your hotel is right at Central Park, you can try to get show tickets at the half price booth, although there is another less busy booth downtown (near Wall st). I know there are a million suggestions, but I also think the Village is one of the most adorable parts of the city. Have fun!
