Mini-Moon

Anyone planning a mini-moon? A short, not-too-far-away trip to take immediately after the wedding, with a longer, more official honeymoon, later?

Since our dream honeymoon is exotic (and thus expensive) was thinking of doing a mini moon and taking the honeymoon a year later

Re: Mini-Moon

  • We didn't do a mini moon but I know tons of people who have.

  • We have called many of our trips since we started dating 3 years ago mini moons.  They can't be called honeymoon yet, cause we aren't married yet.  Yay for mini-moons.
  • I think we are going to do that. My FI's sister just got married on the other side of the U.S. so since she will be flying in for our wedding, his mother wants to hold a party in her hometown for both newlyweds the following weekend. So we won't be able to venture too far in the days in between. We'll probably do a bigger trip that following winter.

  • we're planning on a mini moon and then honeymooning about 6 months later.  We figure this will give us time to save back up for hte honeymoon.  I'm also having trouble narrowing down where I want to go and several of the locations don't work for right after the wedding anyway.  So we're thinking maybe Sedona for a mini moon and then something big and fun for the honeymoon.

  • We did - we got married in August, but didn't want to go to Hawaii (where we got engaged last year) until the winter when the weather is crap.  so In septmember we drove through the Rockies and visited some friends in Alberta.  We're going to Hawaii in 2 weeks, yay!

<div>We did a similar thing. We got married in early October and went away for a few dayss just to relax and unwind and enjoy our favorite time of the year in New England, then went on our real honeymoon a month later when the weather was crappier here and I had time to unpack and pack up again! Worked great for us. </div>
