  • the place looks amazing!!  But Sept is hurricane season!
  • We're schedule to start our HM there in 6 days!!

It looks like Hurricane Paula may hit there tmrw though! Eek!

We're debating to keep it or to use our travel insurance to switch HMs..but we do have our hearts set on there.
  • My coworker and I were actually just talking about it the other day. She stayed there a few years ago and loved it. She went in May, though, but said everything was perfect and it's close to the ruins as well which she thought were beautiful.

  • Thanks guys.  We are not concerned with hurricane season even if it is September. ..we will get insurance and change locations if we have too!!!! Can't wait.  And hz I hope everything works out for you guys...sure it will :)
  • We're taking our honeymoon there in December.  Hey Hz, I saw that Hurricane Paula was downgraded to a category 2, so that's good news.  It'll still pack a punch, but I hope it misses land completely so that you get to write back and let us know how you enjoyed Secrets!

That is true. I usually travel in Sept b/c it is soo much cheaper. Just buy the travel insurance and weather i.e. hurricanes are covered. You'll get your money, a percentage of the price or a full credit to use later back depending on the insurance plan.

I also am looking into Secrets Maroma....it looks awesome. But it kind of expensive for our July 2011 HM.

  • We honeymooned at Secrets Maroma in May 2009.  We loved absolutely everything about it!  It has an amazing beach and the food/service were top notch.  There is a review in my married bio.
  • Question - for those who honeymooned in Maroma Beach -
with the all inclusive - not that I'm some big heavy drinker - but when I went to The Excellence in P*nta Cana - I felt that the drinks were so watered down I couldn't catch a buzz if I tried. Did you find that w/ Secrets?

Also are there alot of activities w/ Secrets or do you have to travel outside the resort in order to snokel or go wave riding? I'm just curious becuse it's what happened to me in P*nta Cana and I want to find a place where once I get there everything is within our reach and we don't have to travel to do any sort of activites.

Also I know this may sound weird were there alot of mosquitos? Again I was not prepared for P*nta Cana - as you can see it left a bad taste in my mouth.....Thanks for your feedback.
