The Grand Hyatt is amazing- rooms, pools, grounds, restaurants all great.  Captain Andy's tour of the Napali coast was awesome, we did the morning sail.  We hiked a bit in the Waimea Canyon and it was beautiful.  Have dinner at the Beach House at sunset, it is absolutely gorgeous.  I highly recommend the Hawaii Revealed book.  It gave us maps of the hikes with difficulty level and we used it to find restaurants.

  • Grand Hyatt again! We only stayed for 3 nights there and wished it had been longer! We got a little bored on the North side . . . stayed at The Princeville Resort, and, eh, it wasn't worth all the hype. We like the Grand Hyatt MUCH better. Plus, besides the restaurants at the resort (which were ridiculously priced) there didn't seem to be any fine dining in Princeville. In Poipu, The Beach House for sure, and we also liked Tidepools at the Grand Hyatt. Waimea Canyon and boat tour of the NaPali coast -- although this is one thing I would recommend doing from the north shore because you see much more of the coast and don't waste time on the journey up there.
  • We also stayed at the Grand Hyatt and would highly recommend it.  Gorgeous grounds.
As for restaurants, our favorites were Merriman's (our favorite on Maui and Kauai) and Josselin's for fine dining, Puka Dog for a local treat.  We also ate at the Beach House, but we found it to be completely overrated - H and I are foodies, so that definitely affects our opinion, but for the price the food was just bad.  The view was great, but you can have a seat on the lawn without paying for the food.
