Any Suggestions

Well we were going to go to Costa Rica. Found a great deal including airfare and he was happy about it til he read about the Scuba diving lesson and excursion on the reef. Then he realized that the resort was located on a cay in the reef. He goes....ummmmm sharks....yea no. He's currently deployed so when he calls we discuss things. So now he wants to go up to Alaska however in September I want to head to the tropics. He's trying for mountains where I'm trying for beaches. Any suggestions? We do agree on that we want to get out of the continential US since both of us have pretty much traveled all around here through our lives. I have a 5 yr old from a previous marriage and my FI and I have a 3 month old together so we'd like to be able to go and do excursions since we mainly do family outings here. Actually this will be the first time completely kid free in a year and a half. Only looking at 5 nights.

You're not going because of sharks? Sharks are not very dangerous creatures. There are around 100 attacks worldwide per year and maybe 10-20 of those are fatal. You are more likely to be attacked and killed by a large dog than a shark. I suggest you read up more on sharks. This is a good source: http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/education/questions/attack.html

I've swam with sharks in French Polynesia and then again recently along the Great Barrier Reef. If you ever plan on swimming ever again, you have the chance to run into sharks.

it's him who's afraid of them. I grew up around San Francisco Bay Area going to the beaches and everything. So I'm use to be in the Ocean. There's always that threat. I wouldn't mind the opportunity to swim with them though.

I think you should tell him to stop being silly and go with your original plan. September is one of the best times to go. Gorgeous weather and less tourists!
