How long to stay in Cancun

Hi ladies

FI and I are leaning towards the Riviera Maya/Cancun region for our delayed HM. We really wanted to do a 10 day HM, but I'm wondering if we'll get bored there that long. How long did you stay, and was it enough? Too long? We like to lay on the beach, but absolutely do not want to spend 10 days laying on the beach. We're looking into two day long excursions we'd like to do.

Thoughts?

Personally I think that 10 days might be a little long for Cancun, even with a couple of day trips mixed in.  I've been to Mexico a few times, once for 7 days and the other 2 times on shorter trips.  The 7 day trip seemed perfect, and we were definitely ready to get back home!

I agree w/ PP - 7 days w/ 2 daylong excersions will be great AND you'll get enough time to lay on the beach and relax.

I think 10 days in cancun could be a long time. 

I actually spend a couple weeks every year in Isla Mujeres, which is a little island off of Cancun (ferry ride away) and I *love* it. How about doing a week in Cancun, and a few days in Isla? While in Isla you have snorkling, fishing, swimming with dolphins, and just experiencing the culture.

I've been there a few times and agree that a week is perfect. By the time we were done with our HM there, we were ready to go home. Not in a bad way, but just ready. We did 2 days of exploring (one to shop, one to climb the pyramid) and it was just right.

dh and i go every december for between 10 days and 2 weeks. plenty to do-or plenty not to do and just lay around by the pool or beach. love it and look forward to it every year.
