Weekend Retreats?

My FI and I are planning an October 20 wedding in TN. I am a highschool teacher and he is a soil conservationist, so he could take a longer vacation than me.. I don't want to burn many sick days. We are thinking of a nicer honeymoon over my winter break, but does anyone have any ideas to get away for a couple days?

  • A friend of mine did her honeymoon in Pigeon Forge, TN - they rented an inexpensive cabin and did some local excursions (like zip-lining and hiking and stuff) and had a great time.

  • My FI and I went to Gatlinburg in October this past fall and it was lovely! We rented a cabin and it was inexpensive and there was quite a bit to do. If you wanted to go somewhere a little further from ya'll, but wanted the same feeling as that, check out Branson, MO. It's very similar to Gatlinburg. Hot Springs, Arkansas is also very nice and close and has nice spas and historic hotels.

  • Monteagle/ Sewanee, TN is beautiful. There are plenty of cabins to rent.  Although it isn't as packed with activities as Piegon Forge or Gatlinburg, there are some state parks and a beautiful university that has goregous trails with caves, waterfalls, and scenic lookouts.
  • I've always wanted to go to the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area! They have some really nice cabins on the internet! Very romantic!
