need help picking a honeymoon resort!

I have finally narrowed down my honeymoon search to The Royal Playa del Carmen, Valentin Imperial Maya, El Dorado Seaside Suites or Dreams Riviera Cancun and I need your expertise!

Info: travel dates are for the middle of February 2013, my fiance and I are in our late 20s early 30s. We love a great beach that we can walk along for quite a while. We also love restaurant options. We like a range in age groups, nothing too old or too young. While we do not have to be right in town we like having a town close enough to explore (not stuck on the resort).

Anything would help :) Thanks!

Re: need help picking a honeymoon resort!

  • We're staying at the Royal Playa del Carmen based on the reviews of 2 of my friends (also knotties) who stayed there on their honeymoon. I was told the food is fantastic, especially for an AI, the beach is good, and the service was perfect.

  • since you've narrowed it down to those have you checked on a map how far or close they are to town? some are far.  'not too far' is not too specific....
as far as the food you can check on their websites and tripadvisor which restaurants are available and how the food is.

  • Going off of what Ali said, can you be more specific? Too young or too old?? Dreams offers stays to guests of any age, so babies can be there. I can understand not wanting to be around young children. However, what is "too old"? My DH is 50, so to me, too old is probably different than yours.

  • We went to the VIM for our honeymoon and loved it. The only draw back is that the resort is spread out, so if you don't like walking then it could be troublesome. But we were fine walking around. They have a huge beachfront- half is nice and sandy for swimming, the other half has some big rocks.

You can easily walk out to the road and grab a Collectivo for something like $3 a trip to town. Check out the facebook page (clicky) for more information (ask the people there, they'll tell you anything you'd want to know).
