What is your budget? That will very much dictate where you can go and for how long.

Without knowing you, it's hard to give a recommendation as to what best fits your personality and needs. I HMed in the South Pacific, but I've seen people on here think that Bora Bora was Bora-Boring! LOL So, you need to figure out what you want, and then figure out if that fits your budget.

Sorry but I can't help notice but your geography is off. PR and DR are not in Latin America and Antigua isn't Latin at all.  They are still all in the Caribbean. Since you have chosen the Caribbean twice I think that's where you should go.

  • I voted for the South Pacific because I would love to go there.  But budget wise Tahiti (Bora Bora and such) and the Bahamas are on polar opposites when it comes to costs.

I noticed this as well. Also of note is that you cannot get in between Tahiti and Fiji unless you fly all the way down to Auckland or Sydney and back up. So, it's either one or the other but not both. Also, just so you are aware, 3 weeks in French Polynesia (Tahiti) will be well over $20K unless you stay in pensions (like family run B&Bs).

  • I think if you want to go somewhere warm and Europe, I'd go somewhere in Europe: South of France or a Greek island.

Is money no object here?  There's dreaming big but then there's reality.
  • Sweet mercy, I wish I could get three weeks off of work for a vacation. I'd do our ultimate trip of the whole of Scandinavia.

I think all of those places are going to be either packed, crazy expensive or both during the summer. You may want to consider less traveled areas of Europe or straight up South America.

<div>This was sort of my thought also.  OP, parts of Europe shut down during the late summer months, so that matters also.  Most of Italy, large chunks of France, parts of Greece (and maybe Spain/Portugal though I'm not positive) all head to the coast during August to escape the heat.  I spent a Maymester in Italy while in college and then weather was perfect then... but we still did not have A/C so nights were a bit warm.  Like PP said, you couldn't pay me to go visit Italy any later than May.  Even some of the huge museums don't have climate control (odd with so much art, but true).</div><div>
</div><div>I'm also wondering if you were planning on doing like a week in one of those locations you posted in your poll and then flying to Europe?  Logisitcally that will exhaust you, and price-wise I would imagine flights alone would run you around $4-5k for two people to do that, since you would basically be flying twice.  Keep in mind too that Europe is usually expensive for nice hotels.  Remember that one euro is worth about $1.30 so most things are about 30% more than in the US (except the very very poor countries).</div><div>
</div><div>Personally if I had 3 weeks and a large budget (I'm thinking $10K here), I would do the UK and Ireland (even though the UK is generally even more expensive than the rest of Europe).  It's cooler there during the summer, and I would probably do a week in London and the surrounding area, a week up in Scotland, and then a week staying in all the old castles in Ireland.  But that's just me.  I think it would be expensive but probably end up costing you less than going to Tahiti for 3 weeks.</div>

[QUOTE]Europe is packed with tourists during the summer. You couldn't pay me to go to Rome in summer. Well, I guess if you paid me I would go, but that is the only way.
