Marriage Certificate question

Hi! This is going to sound really dumb but I don't know anyone else who ever got married in Florida and I live overseas so here we go...

We were expecting to receive our marriage certificate in the mail a couple weeks after our wedding. Its been 3 weeks and all we've got is a photocopy of our marriage license which has been signed by the officiant and stamped.

Is this the marriage certificate?! It doesn't say marriage certificate anywhere on it... just marriage license. And it's only a photocopy. Is this normal? I expected something a little more explicit and an original document.

the "look" or style probably depends on the county where the marriage license was filed. you can contact the county (most have instructions on their website) and request a certified copy of your marriage certificate for a few bucks for if you want.

Yes it probably is.  Ours was a photocopy of the marriage license we turned in but with a red stamp on the bottom.

    We were expecting more too.

I have a question, of how early in Orlando do we need to get our marriage certificate for the wedding?  My fiance is going to be overseas till about a week before the wedding for work and then I will be joining him after the wedding.

    Hi,

I am travelling to Orlando from the UK to get married in October and like you don't know anyone else who got married in Orlando. How easy is it to get the marriage licence?
