So, I'm getting married in February 2011 (exactly 10 months away today!) and also starting law school in August. The law school application, LSAT-taking, and accept/reject process has been 2 years long. We're also moving to Chicago for me to start law school at the end of July with a slight possibllity that my FI and I will have to be apart from each other until he finds a job in Chicago (we've done long-distance before).
My plan was to have nearly everything done for the wedding before school officially starts. I work around 50+ hours a week now as it is, and I don't get weekends off. EVER. I've managed to get my ceremony site, reception site, photographer, officiant, make-up, hair and flowers booked. On top of that, my bridesmaids dresses are picked out, and suits for the guys are picked out.
I'm also DIY-ing our wedding invitations (which are half-done right now), and have already purchased bridesmaids gifts, groomsmen gifts and parents' gifts as well as details for the wedding like votive candles for the tables. My MOH is planning my bachelorette for the month before I move, and my mom is planning my bridal shower for around that time as well.
All that's left really is to buy my dress, linens and our wedding bands. We're not taking our honeymoon right away because I'll be in the middle of law school when we get married.
Anyway, I just wanted to post this for all the brides that feel overwhelmed sometimes with wedding planning. Instead of buying things we don't need we've saved all our money for law school and the wedding. It can get financially overwhelming sometimes but saving has helped immensely. We don't even have cable!! haha. I'm just an organized freak...lol
Just take it one day at a time
Anything is possible!
