My friend was married there last December.  I was not able to attend her wedding but I think she was very happy with it.  They are very pricey and you are paying for the venue.  But I know of a lot of nice weddings that were held there.  My DOC Tracy Marini is one of the planners on their list of approved vendors (they require you to have a DOC I think).  You should contact her independently and ask her advice/opinion on the GrandBo.  :)
Her contact info is on her site...

there have been several brides on the knot that are or have gotten married there. I wouldn't try to haggle with them I would just approach them and say you know we love the venue but this is our budget, is there anyway we can work within those numbers? I think that is a better more positive approach and they will be less defensive than if you just try to argue on price.

    Hello,
I am holding my ceremony and reception at the Grand Bohemian in March 2011.  Are you planning on holding both your ceremony and reception there or only reception?  If you do both, they do require you to have a DOC, but not if you are only holding the reception there.  Also, getting married on a day other than a Saturday may help lower the cost.  I am getting married on a Sunday for this reason.    The $100 a person does include alcohol, which is the reason that I thought the price wasn't too bad considering the venue.  I have been working with Sandy, and she has been very helpful.

Also, my friend was married there a few years ago and just loved it.  She did say that she was disappointed with the photographer (sorry, can't remember the name), but everything else was great.  I am using a photographer that is not on there list, and much more reasonably priced.

Let us know what you decide!  I have done quite a bit of research into their recommended vendors, so if you need any info, let me know. :)

If you can look up CherriTerri and Gorjush, I believe they both had weddings there.  See if you can find past posts and message or email them.

Hi, I just got married there on May 22nd!  I am more than happy with the GB.  The food was amazing and the service was impeccable.  I have heard nothing but good things from my guests about their experience.  The Bride and Groom also get a personal Maitre'D for the whole day, which was really nice.  Sandy was wonderful to work with, too.  The only issue I had with the GB was that the day before the wedding, DH tried to check in for me (dumb move on his part because I had the paperwork and I was the one who dealt with the GB).  They couldn't find the reservation, but when I got there for the Rehearsal, Sandy was there and had it fixed ASAP.

Like PPs said, they do require you to have a DOC if you have the ceremony and reception there, but I would have had a DOC regardless.

About the prices- if you get married on a day other than Saturday, you can probably get the prices lowered a bit.  However, I doubt you would be able to for a Saturday wedding.  I didn't find the price unreasonable for what you are getting- the food really is amazing and the price includes alcohol.  The bar is top shelf liqour, too, which made my guests very happy.

If you have any more questions, you can PM me and I'll givve you my email.  Also, if you are interested in seeing some pix from the wedding, you can go to this link: http://animoto.com/play/41H0CG90nNQXiyNThrN2uA?utm_content=main_link&utm_source=share&utm_campaign=animoto&utm_medium=email

Love the outside tent set up. I am getting married in Cocoa Beach but that is beautiful. Does the $100 include everything? I am having my reception at the Hilton Oceanfront. It is $119 plus $34 for alcohol but that includes tax & gratuity. When I was looking at venues I realized that it is really all about how they list their prices. Some venues look cheaper because they break everything down and charge you for the room, cake table ect. In the end the courtyard, which priced $28 pp was the same as the Hilton when you add everything up. I would be careful about trying to bargain with vendors though. I lost a vendor because she asked which package I was most interested in and I told her the smallest one but I was working on my budget to upgrade with her. I would try to find out if anyone else has bargained with them first.

The price the GB gives you includes everything except taxes and service fee.  I think the service fee is 22%?  I didn't have to pay extra for alcohol (unless you want to extend the open bar), cake cutting, etc.  There is also the room rental fee if you have both the ceremony and reception there.

Genevieve, seriously if you lost a vendor just because you said that you were on a budget and needed her smallest package, you are WAY better off without her.  You don't need some snob getting your wedding money.  Vendors know people are on budgets.  They can accomodate them or not.  But to turn someone away jsut because they talked money.. thats rude and ridiculous.

Jenifer, It sucks because she did awsome work but your right. I don't think I want to spend the day with someone like that. Now it just makes me paranoid to talk to vendors. I didn't even ask for a discount or anything. I just told her that I would be using the smaller package but I would be working on my budget to upgrade. She said "I won't be able to help you because if you have to sacrafice your details your photographs will suffer." What is that??? What happens when you do ask them for a discount?

genevive, that person was unprofessional and ridiculous. Why even offer that package if you immediately turn people away who want it?  i would've been so put off by that comment that I wouldn't have even hired the person.

Theresa is right.  There are tons of talented photographers that are understanding that we are in the middle of a freaken recession!!!  Must be nice to be so rolling in business that you can turn people away just because they aren't rich enough for your standards.  I'm sorry you went through this.  Everyone I have talked to I have been very honest.  "This is how much money I have.  This is what I want.  Can you help me?"  I did have one photographer who told me she couldn't (but that was no surprise, that one is VERY EXPENSIVE.. she was my reach photographer) but other than that everyone has been wonderful.  Don't feel ashamed to have a budget, everyone that is planning a wedding does.  (some just happen to be way more than mine, haha!!).  You will find vendors that are just as good if not better!!

    Also, you have a PM.
