My two cents on reviews...

Okay - here goes.  One of my favorite parts of the knot (besides the amazing friends I've made) is reading the vendor reviews.  While I know it's annoying to read something bad about a vendor that you are using especially if they are a friend, but it is what is it.  I read some horrible things about my florist, but I took what I learned and will make my own decision on 11/7.  Our board has gotten really good in the past several months with newbies coming out and people feeling free to express themselves.  I hope this doesn't change because people fear they will be mistreated if they say something negative.  Bottom line: whether we agree or disagree, it's every brides right to tell about their own experiences.

Well said Power. Not everyone has the same experience will all vendors. I know I had a vendor who I love but they get mixed reviews on here. The important thing to remember is that we are all different so we are looking for different things in our vendors. No two weddings are alike so we should not have all the same vendors. I can't stand knowing that some people on this board use to say bad things about my favorite vendor (before I started posting) but at the end of the day you can not please everyone.

Love you Power. I completely agree. The whole point of a review is that you get honesty. The good and the bad. I'd be upset if bad reviews came up about vendors that I loved, but we have to be real here. If there were big problems with a vendor, no matter how much I thought I loved that vendor, I want to know about it. If there are fake posts about vendors just to cause rumors or ruin reputations, then those are wrong. But trust the mods to deal with them as necessary. That's what mods do.

I agree with you, vendor reviews are very helpful... I picked several of my vendors based on what people on Theknot said...However, I have an issue with people who basically create an account to bash or praise a particular vendor. If I see a post from someone who never participates on the boards that says "OMG this vendor is so freakin awesome she was my DOC/PHOTOG/CATERER/MUA" etc etc etc I probably wouldn't consider using that person because those kind of posts scream "vendor" to me. The only reviews I take seriously are the ones who have a married bio with reviews for ALL of their vendors.

I agree Gina. All the vendors I picked were used by regular posters. I don't really worry about posters that come out of no where...not too many people take them seriously.

I have to say, I love all the vendor reviews.  The good, the bad, and the ugly!  They have been so helpful.  I don't know the first thing about planning a wedding, as I'm sure most of us don't.  I never saw the previous post everyone was talking about earlier.  But I agree, if it was just some random person that I've never seen a post from before, it might make me suspicious!

yes, reviews good or bad are very helpful. the best reviews are the ones that go into detail and provide a full accounting of the experience from start to finish.

I don't understand why anyone would be upset over a bad review.  Just because you had a great experience with your vendor doesn't mean every other bride must love your vendor and will have the exact same experience.  And if I had a bad experience you better believe I will post about it on every website I can find to get the word out.  So just because someone posts a negative review and doesn't come back to respond doesn't mean it wasn't a real review.

totally agreed. I like negative reviews more than positive reviews. I don't know why everyone on here gets so pissy about negative reviews.

I just got an email from one of the bashed vendors to dispell the rumor that was started about the company. So, I would just tell you to take every review with a grain of salt. There is always two sides to every story. In this case it was just down right weird and uncalled for.
