needing a Justice of the Peace (brevard)

I haven't been on here in so long! My fiance and I have decided to move our wedding up to November 1 of this year. The reason for such a jump is that my fiance's grandpa has gotten extremely ill. He's 86 years old, has blood cancer (cannot clot) and doctors recently "accidentally" gave him medication that thins his blood more. The past month he's been in and out of the hospital. It is very important that his grandpa gets to see atleast one grandchild get married. I'm getting my dress very soon, we got our rings last night, we have our ceremony venue and restaurant picked out (only 25 people attending so there's no need for a full reception hall) but we are in need of someone to marry us! I have looked up numerous officiants and they were out of our price range (very tight budget) and the best option we found for $50 turned out to be very rude. Does anyone know how I can go about getting a JOP for our ceremony, available on a Sunday? Do I just stop by a city hall and ask for someone? TIA!

Get one of your friends or a loved ones to become a notary.  Here's information on how to become a notary:  http://www.flgov.com/notary_how_toYou apply pay like a fifty dollar fee and then they send you a certificate.  At your wedding, the notary marries you and he and the witnesses will sign the marriage certificate.

If there's not enough time or too many hoops to jump through, I would suggest posting an ad on craigs list for a notary public and then interviewing them to see if you like any of them.

Hey! I recently became a notary so that I could marry my MOH and her FI. It was a 3-hour online class, and about $100. Super easy. But, I think I might have a solution for ya... shoot me an email at my screen name.

I don't have any additional suggestions that haven't already been mentioned (I really like the idea of having a friend become a notary though) but I just wanted to say how sorry I am about your FI's grandfather and how wonderful you are being to accommate his wishes.  Best of luck to you and I hope he's staying strong.

I'm primarily a lurker here (live in Brevard, got married in PA), but I also might have a solution for you. I've seen some mobile notary posts on Craigslist.com in the past few months. If you send me an email to knottiekwynn@gmail.com, I can probably dig up the information pretty quickly for you.
