uplighting

The closer to this wedding the harder and harder it is to make decisions! I'm getting married at LMEC in less than a month and did not even think about uplighting for that room. I'm going for a classic and romantic feel (espresso and ivory table linens, tall centerpieces with white orchids that are touched with green and purple). I've had a lot of my vendors pushing me to do purple uplighting and the monogram for the stage. Although it looks AMAZING in some pictures I've seen I'm not 100% sure I want it but they tell me that just using the lighting in that room won't look nice enough. I plan on having lots of candlelight as well. I'm not sure what to do. I'm not opposed to a monogram but don't know how I feel about the uplighting.Thoughts? If you had uplighting would you share your pics? Thanks!!

If it is within your budget (and if your fiance doesn't mind) I would go for it.  It will bring elegance to your reception and make for wonderful photos!

We debated about this for a while. When my fiance eventually gave me the go for it I priced quite a few different places and they were a fortune! An extra few thousand just for lights was crazy to me. However, I really like the way it looks so we ended up going for it. I hope I'm happy with it in the end and feel that it was worth it.

im having uplighting at my wedding in 19 days. If u want, i can post pics on how it looks after its all over. I am doing choc. brown tablecloths, really tall centerpieces with burnt orange hydrangea and curly willow sticking out of the top. I am also doing tons of candles on each table. We are doing our uplighting in orange and the vases I am using will also have orange floralytes inside of them. I think lighting can really set a room off. I would say do it!

we did magenta uplighting. we agreed to cut back a little on our florals in order to add the uplighting.

gorjush, are those led panel uplights or can uplights? How many did you need and how much did they charge you?  What company did you go with?

weddingbelle, thanks for the compliments! i was very happy with the way the reception decor turned out. the menus were definitely a DIY. i'm a designer IRL and used adobe illustrator for the layout. i think there are other programs that you can use for something like this (even Word allows you to use JPG emblems and combine with text). theresa, it was regular can uplighting (we didn't need any of that fancy color changing and weren't concerned with the heat). i went with Tagas- he charged me $50 per can and we went with 10 cans spread thru-out the room. b/c of this we cut back $500 from the floral budget so we didn't make a big dent in our overall expenses. i think it was worth it and the room looked pretty and had some sassy ambiance. i cannot in good conscience recommend Tagas (since as a DJ the owner bryan himself effed up so badly at our reception) but i am sure he would be fine JUST to rent uplighting from. this was the only thing he didn't screw up.

I'm not sure when you're wedding date is -- but we're probably using Power Entertainment for our DJ. Hi packages start a $950 for 4 or 5 hours AND include uplighting. That was a big factor for me -- plus he's DJ'ed two of my friends weddings AND my DOC Tracy Marini highly recommended him.
