Mediterranean Cruise help

Have any of you taken a Mediterranean honeymoon? If so, where? That is one of the options on my list. I am not sure if it would be worth it or if I just fly to the country and stay in one or two different places. I guess I am worried about not having enough time in the complete activities at each location.
Any feedback would be wonderful.

Re: Mediterranean Cruise help

  • We just booked our first med. cruise and cannot wait!!! We've been on a number of Caribbean cruises and unlike those, the ones in Europe are docked at each destination longer, and in some instances overnight, which really appealed to us. We actually are excited to visit a lot of the destinations we are going to and seeing certain parts, but are glad we can just book an excursion through the ship, be done with it, and see a new place the next day or day after....

our cruise leaves from Rome and visits another place in Italy, two destinations in Greece, Egypt overnight, and Israel overnight.

  • Just keep in mind that for some of the advertised stops, you're quite a ways from the actual destination (i.e. for Rome you actually dock in Civitavechia-sp., and for Florence, you dock in Livorno which is a huge and unappealing port town). So you either pay a bit of $$$ on an organized tour or have to take a train/bus to actually get to those cities.

Although there may be some ports you wish you were able to spend much more time in, stopping at multiple different ones gives you a great sampling/will perhaps make you want to return in the future and just be landside.

I think if it's something you and your FI have interest in doing, it's a great idea.
