videographer

So FI and I nixed the videographer to try and stay within budget.  but now I'm second guessing myself.  one of my BM's who got married last nov says she is on the fence as to whether she regrets not having one.so my question is....did you use one, and if not, do you regret not having one?TIA!!

We hired ours the week OF the wedding and it was one of the best decisions we made. It was only $200 more to have them for the whole day instead of just the ceremony so we went for it and we LOVE our video. It's made everybody who's watched it cry :)
    That's Mrs.skWhitneyAmanda to you!

we went back and forth about it and decided we'd rather regret getting one than regret NOT getting one. once we started looking, we realized there are a lot of crappy ones in the 600--1000 range and almost gave up on having one, but we went slightly over that and got an amazing one. it was more than we wanted, but Elegante ended up being one of our favortie vendors!

We did not and I have no regrets - yet.  Who knows if it'll bother me later on... That being said, Elegante is an awesome company and they've done several of my friend's weddings with incredible results.  We're just not home-movie type people.  I don't see myself watching this thing, EVER.  So, when it came to the budget, we didn't even include it. HTH!

Yea, has been a hard decision for me too...I'm afraid I will regret it. I hate seeing myself on camera though. But then I think it would be neat to show my children one day or see people that may of passed away, etc...so, if it can be squeezed in the budget, then we will get one.

I've always thought about getting one just because everyone says that you dont get to see half of the things that really happen during the day (i.e. when FI walks in, or the BMs, etc) and I definitely know that we want to be able to show it to others. Since a lot of our families are from out of town, there is a possibility that some of them may not come so we want to have something to show them...and also have something to show our kids someday! I wish my parents had made a video! I would have loved to see it! Like Sarah said, I would rather get it and regret i got it, then not get it and regret that. Hope that made sense!

Semi-long story :) We didn't plan for a videographer originally, but at the last minute, we decided we wanted one (for the exact same reason as your post). We asked around for friends or family to do it, but no one stepped up :( A few weeks before, we talked to DH's parents and we were going to borrow their camera. SIL's bf offered to help out :) Instead, DH's fam bought a really nice videocam and had SIL's bf video everything..and the camera (with all the footage) was our wedding gift from them. I wish we WOULD have planned for a videographer from the start, so they (and we!) didn't have to scramble around at the 11th hour, but it was an awesome surprise :)
