How many of you are going to Jamaica and have been to Jamaica? What did you think of it?

We have been and are going back for 2 weeks for our HM!

FI and I went to Jamaica 5 years ago, and since than (we travel twice a year) this has been our favourite place. Originally for our HM we were planning on Bora Bora, but FSIL got engaged and is planning a destination wedding to Mexico a few months after our wedding, hence, the HM budget was cut. So Jamaica was an easy choice for us! The people are fun, sure they do not provide the quickiest service, but hey your on island time! The country is beautiful and I'd recommend to anyone! We are staying two weeks at Secret Wild Orchid! Can't wait! GL in your planning!

Edit: BTW looks like we are date twins! Maybe I'll see you there!

I went to Montego Bay a long time ago with my parents and was very impressed.  Just be careful if you leave the resort for any reason, make sure you're on a real trip, and use common sense!
Its a beautiful place....

Absolutely love Jamaica! FI and I took our first trip there a few years back and have made it an annual thing since. We actually land in Mo Bay, but stay up in Negril at The Caves.

The FI and I are going to Montego Bay for our honeymoon and staying at one of the 3 Sandals resorts there.  They have a deal that you can stay at one of them and they then have a shuttle service to take you to the other 2 so you can enjoy them as well.

I've been to Ocho Rios on a cruise stop and did a river tubing and Dunns River Falls excursion which was a lot of fun.

DH and I are flying into Montego Bay, but staying in Ocho Rios for our anniversary in June.

One of the downfalls I've heard about staying in Montego Bay is that the airport is right there. I've heard amazing things about Negril, and loved Ocho Rios and can't wait to go back!

FI and I are going to Ocho Rios for our HM in November. Neither of us have been to Jamaica before and we are pretty excited! We are staying at a Sandals resort.

Montego Bay was one of the ports we stopped at on our cruise last year.  We hated it... just hated it!  I know many people who have stayed at the resorts there and loved it, so if you're not planning on leaving the resort or just doing a few planned excursions it might be ok...but the town itself was horrid.  We only lasted a few hours off the ship that day. (and this is from a girl who has been to other islands (Dominican Republic, Mexico and Grand Cayman).   The airport is on the same end of town as all the resorts so you might want to look to another area of Jamaica like Ocho Rios or Negril.
