Anyone ever make pomanders??

So last week, I found my shepherds hooks and now Im trying to figure out what to hang from them! Thinking about making pomanders...anyone ever made these? If so, do you have any tips?...what size styrofoam balls should I use?...any tips on securing the ribbon?

Any other ideas for what to hang from my shep hooks are fine too! =) Thanks!

Heres an idea of what I was thinking about...

I tried, and gave up. I'm neither crafty, nor patient, so this was not the best DIY task for me. I chose to do those round hanging paper lanterns instead, since I am also doing shepards hooks for the ceremony decorations. They were super cheap & I think they will give an equally nice look. Just a suggestion if you decide not to go the DIY route. I also found that buying pompadours, either real or fake, and ridiculously expensive! Yuck. I'm buying plain ones & adding ribbon so they look like these. Good luck!!

Those are super cute! And I'm loving that they're inexpensive. They might not have the same "feel" that Im going for though...go figure, I never luck out with easy projects!! hahaha. Maybe Ill buy one and see how I feel about it. I was worried about the pomanders being expensive =\ blahhh!

I saw paper lanterns at the Dollar Tree last week! I'm also going to try and make pomanders myself... I've seen people hang mason jars with ribbon from shepherd's hooks, too! (with flowers inside and decorative rocks) I am thinking about adding tulle fabric to mine.

I made FG's pomander from fresh roses. I did it in about 30 minutes on the morning of the rehearsal (the day before the wedding). It wasn't that hard and it was WAY cheaper than paying the florist to make it.

I used the small styrofoam ball that you get in the floral craft aisle at Michaels. I strung the ribbon all the way through the ball with a screwdriver and knotted it at the bottom to keep it in place. I made stem-size holes with the screwdriver where I wanted the roses, clipped the stem off save for about half an inch or so, and secured with a hot glue gun. Voila! :) Pictures of the result in my married bio and pictures of the practice run in my planning bio, which you can get to from the main page of the married bio :)

I haven't made pomanders but I plan to. There are plenty of people who have been explaining how to make them. I know that some people use a floral wire and make almost a pin by wrapping it around the ribbon, and twisting it to a point. Then super glue it into the styrofoam ball. The size of the ball all depends on how much you want to spend and the look you're going for. Another thing to think about is if you want silk flowers, real flowers or a different element. There is even tissue paper pomanders which is the link i'm going to give you. It's all the same concept though. GL!
