Friday or Sunday Weddings

Is anyone getting married on a Friday or a Sunday? We heard it can save a lot to do that. Just curious where you're getting married and how much you were able to save by doing Friday/Sunday. Thanks!

We're getting married on a Sunday morning! I can't really remember the difference in money as far as the day goes; however, we are not having alcohol so there was a huge difference in that (a couple thousand) and we are only having 55 guests so that also cut down costs quite a bit. All in all, I'm happy with out decision.

We're getting married on a Friday Morning (11/26/10) and saved almost half on the reception site. We're getting married at Leu Gardens and did not get a discount on the ceremony site ($750) but got the meeting rate ($100/hr) for the reception instead of the wedding rate ($750).

we got married at 5pm on a sunday and had a 3 hour reception. if you are ok with a more laid-back atmosphere rather than a party atmosphere, then go for it. we loved it!

I think most places offer some type of lower rates for off-peak days, but even if they don't, it might be worth it to get a date that's available. Some places are booked out way in advance, but having it on a Friday or Sunday they might be able to get you in a lot sooner.

I got married on a Friday in June. It was probably one of the only days open since Saturdays book up so fast, but I wanted a Friday so I don't really remember. At Lake Mary Events Center you have to rent the whole building for Saturday or Sunday. But on Friday you get a specific time block and you can pay for just the rooms you want.

I only ended up renting the two rooms we used (Rotunda for the ceremony and Grand Ballroom for the reception- aka basically the whole facility) and paid $1200 instead of $1800 for the whole building on a Friday. The Saturday price for renting the whole place was about $2500, I believe. So I saved over $1,000 just by doing it on a Friday and only booking what I needed. No one had the other rooms booked (small meeting room for about 25 ppl or the lawn) so we ended up having the whole place to ourselves for a much cheaper price.  :)  It worked out very well.

Going with what everyone else has said, venues are probably about the only place you'll save any money. DJs and photographers and caterers generally don't change their prices on different days, atleast down here. I've seen some girls on the Budget Wedding boards from up north who's other vendors gave discounts for off peak days, but that's not normal here. I am getting married on a Friday evening at LMEC too and only booked the outdoor ceremony site, larger half of the ballroom and bride and groom's rooms for $1425, which (like Britt said) saved us over $1000 because we got to choose only the spaces we needed. I'm contemplating adding on the rotunda for $200 though. Good luck!

We had a Friday wedding and it didn't really matter b/c our venue charged a flat rate for using the facility.
