Re: Jamaican Update from US Govt.

  • uh that is not new...that was dated 2 days ago.
  • wow Reilly, why would you post this?  Are you trying to scare honeymooners?  I looked at the site today and thought, hmm, they don't mention any americans being killed, kidnapped or gone missing.  I mean, look at Aruba and the Natalie Hollaway crime that got so much buzz...that isn't stopping you from going to Aruba is it?
  • This issue has come up on my June board and everyone pretty much agrees that it will be okay if you aren't going anywhere near Kingston. This kind of unrest is fairly common there. We are staying at a resort, so I feel pretty good that we will be okay as long as we don't venture off by ourselves and esp not out in the streets at night. I am definitely going to keep an eye on it, but I don't think its time to cancel or freak out yet.
  • Thanks for the official update from the US gov't. It's good to see the actual memo rather than getting the info 3rd hand!

As with all travelling, use common sense, judge your comfort level and act appropriately.
  • I'm leaving for Jamaica on Tuesday.  I'm not worried about it.  We don't plan on leaving the resort and we both have enough common sense to be aware of everything that's going on.  We're flying into MoBay, so we should be alright.
